Pauvre femme !

A police dog and team in Hua Hin received 30,000 baht for the quick arrest of a murder suspect in the killing of a hotel worker.

The reward was given at Hua Hin Police Station, Prachuap Khiri Khan, to the K9 unit and its dog, Praewa, by Provincial Police Chief Police Major General Artorn Chinthong and Hua Hin Police Superintendent Police Colonel Kampanat Na Wichai. Praewa played a critical role in tracking down the suspect, Sam, accused of murdering a young hotel employee during a robbery.

The award will partly be used to buy treats for Praewa. The victim’s family visited the station, offering a gift basket and urging that the suspect face the full force of the law, given the tragedy they endured. Police Major General Artorn assured the family that the investigation is thorough, involving evidence such as CCTV footage and the suspected murder weapon.

The victim’s mother expressed gratitude to local residents and police but declined any donations, warning against potential scams. The suspect has refused to partake in a re-enactment, and the police plan to forward the case to the Hua Hin Provincial Court for legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, the K9 urban search and rescue team in Thailand has ceased operations following a complete search after the State Audit Office building collapse, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Hua Hin police and dog Praewa were rewarded for catching a murder suspect.

  • Victim's family thanked the police and warned against donation scams.

  • The suspect’s legal proceedings are set to continue without a crime re-enactment.

The Hua Hin Provincial Court has denied bail to Rattikorn Yingyod, 36, who is accused of murdering a hotel employee during a violent robbery. The court cited the severe nature of the offense and deemed the suspect a high flight risk. Rattikorn allegedly attacked and killed Wirin, a hotel staff member, with a metal rod, then stole her phone and wallet.

Officers from Provincial Police Region 7, Hua Hin police station, and the Crime Suppression Division arrested Rattikorn following a court-issued warrant. He was brought before the court on charges of premeditated murder, torture or cruelty, murder to facilitate another crime, and robbery causing death. The court approved a 12-day detention for further investigation.

No relatives applied for his release, and the court determined that the severity of the charges and police objections warranted denying bail. The decision also considers the community's safety, given the shocking nature of the crime. Rattikorn is being held in Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Prison.

Authorities remain vigilant in processing the case due to its high-profile nature and potential implications for local safety. The court proactively rejected the possibility of temporary release, underscoring the priority of protecting public safety, reported Bangkok Post.

Key Takeaways

  • The suspect Rattikorn Yingyod has been denied bail due to being a flight risk.

  • Charges include premeditated murder and robbery causing death.

  • The court prioritizes public safety in light of the crime's severity.
