While the heads of state are appearing on the main stage at the Davos Congress Centre, the USA is also displaying its newfound megalomania in a completely different location: This year, they are using the church of the Free Evangelical Community of Davos as their "USA House," a kind of mini-embassy for the World Economic Forum. Directly in front of the entrance to the Congress Centre, the church windows are covered with banners that couldn't look more American: bald eagles, the torch of the Statue of Liberty, the Capitol. On the house's website, a picture of Davos has already been colored in the colors of the US flag.

But the community Davos also left the Americans a small message. A sign in front of the church bears a Bible quote: "Teach us to number our days, that we may become wise." A few houses away, residents are protesting against the US president with banners. So, they're not quite ready to surrender their Swiss mountain village to Trump just yet.
