Bhumjaithai Urges Strategic Voting as Election Race Tightens

The Bhumjaithai Party (BJT) has urged voters to adopt strategic voting in the final push to Thailand’s Feb 8 election, warning that divided support could hand victory to its rivals. Party leaders say opinion polls indicate the contest is narrowing into a two-horse race, increasing the stakes in the closing days of campaigning.

Supamas Isarabhakdi, BJT’s election chief overseeing Bangkok, called on voters to back the party, which it describes as the “blue corner”. She said the message has been repeatedly delivered by herself and party leader and prime ministerial candidate Anutin Charnvirakul on campaign stages nationwide.

“This time, there are really only two sides: the left and the right,” Ms Supamas said. “On our side is the blue corner, and there is only one other corner.” She added: “As we’ve said, if you don’t choose us, they will definitely come in. So I urge everyone, if you are on our side, which includes many different colours, choosing other colours will split the vote and waste it.”

The party’s appeal comes as Bangkok emerges as a key battleground, with BJT expressing confidence it can secure seats in the capital for the first time. Ms Supamas warned that fragmented voting among like-minded supporters would ultimately benefit the opposing camp.

BJT is preparing to stage its first major Bangkok rally on Friday at Lumpini Park. The event will be led by Mr Anutin, described by the party as the “blue corner” leader, alongside its economic “dream team”.

The lineup includes Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun and Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, who is also a party prime ministerial candidate. All three will take to a Bangkok political stage for the first time and Ms Supamas said the rally would have a distinctive format compared with previous campaign events.

Asked whether new policy “game changers” would be unveiled in the final days before the vote, Ms Supamas said the public should wait to hear directly from Mr Anutin, hinting that positive announcements may still be forthcoming.

On the unsettled situation along the Thai–Cambodian border, she insisted Mr Anutin has shown a resolute stance in defending national sovereignty and stressed Thailand must not be placed at a disadvantage.

Bangkokpost reported that regarding the return of Pita Limjaroenrat as an assistant campaigner for the People’s Party, Ms Supamas acknowledged that the former leader of the Move Forward Party retains a strong fan base and could affect support dynamics in Bangkok.

• Bhumjaithai is urging strategic voting ahead of the Feb 8 election, citing a two-horse race.

If I remember correctly Pita won ALL of Bangkok last time. I don't see this changing. I think the two horse race is accurate as PTP are finished and if BJT are talking colours it's orange that will be the dominate colour in these elections. Sadly what will dominate post election is the corrupt judicial arm of the establishment aka the EC and the CC.

Wait for major disturbances along the Cambodian border ...

Guess PP is only hope for change to a "better life" for 85% of thai population.

(15% is military and "superrich")

My payers is they win absolute majority in the election.

That might also be a signal to other parties that "time for a change"..

Practically impossible. The voting system is so complex - voting for PM & for party & for your electorate & for constitutional change that noone understands - that probably 70% of the population have little idea what they're doing & in any case just follow whatever the local authority figure tells them to do.

So, what's the going price for a strategic vote nowadays?

Apparently the EC is looking into a series of suspicious cash withdrawals which may or may not be related to some sort of party strategy, of course it could also be a Chinese NY red envelope thing, in which case it's, you know, cultural...

(too much coffee triggered my sarcasm)

If this means support forAnutin the hapless, every Thai that I talk to says no thanks. He was a good for nothing Deputy PM for 10 years during the Prayuth Decomation, which brought down the economy and the ramifications are still being felt today.

What time I need is a young, dynamic, smart, progressive leader along the line of Thanathorn, or Pita, both of whom were denied the ability to lead due to the extreme corruption and moral decay of the elites, and the powers that control Thailand.

As much as many of us love it here, and is difficult as this is to say, Thailand is marching backwards rapidly, into absolute obscurity and irrelevance.

The Peoples Party and Pheu Thai??

"Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has ruled out the possibility of his Bhumjaithai Party shaking hands with the People’s Party in forming a coalition if the latter doesn’t abandon its attempts to have the lese majeste law, better known as Article 112 of the Criminal Code, amended. 26 Dec 2025

Likely to join Pheu Thai Party as it has before and currently projected by "certain" news media to form a coalition government.
