I hope this lawyer not only prevails but is able to extract a record amount of money from the terrorists who killed their son.

Donald Trump has a lot to answer for and he has a lot of blood on his hands, and it appears that he's just getting started, unless we're somehow able to shut that poisonous creep down.

Hiring a personal lawyer doesnt help put folks in jail. Thats up to prosecutors.

But its wonderful for publicity and keeping the temperature up.

The agents were the ones who made the poor decisions, ol' chap..........😒

you are wrong on the law, as usual.

If they are found guilty, I will look forward to talking to you again....😉

If. Finally some sense. Regardless, I look forward to not reading your one liners for a few years.

See you then.

IF, means let the law take its course, I don't guess, as you and a few others do, a court of law deals with the facts, NOT the words of Trump's flunkies that you admire.

My one-liners, a few years, why, where are you going, Moscow........?offtopic2

Hired is perhaps the wrong word.

He’s taken the case ‘pro bono’.

Are you sure its not a Retainer based on a Contingency?

Pretti’s family has retained Steve Schleicher, a partner at the Minneapolisfirm Maslon. Schleicher served as a special prosecutor in the 2021 trial over Floyd’s murder. Schleicher has taken on the case pro bono, PBS News reports.”

So you’ve given up on ‘Retainer based on a Contingency’.

Mind you, when the agencies which are responsible for investigating and prosecuting are reluctant to do either, then retaining a lawyer with prosecutorial experience of such cases may be rather a good move!

In what way? What is he going to do? On what legal basis will he do it?

If they refuse to prosecute that decision may well end up in court. He will come in handy.

On what basis can anyone challenge the decision whether or not to prosecute someone? Clearly you must have some law to back up your position. Tell us what it is.

The US has the principal of Judicial Review does it not?

Please cite us a case or statute anywhere in the USA that provides for a Court review of a decision not to prosecute.

The OP is correct.

Judicial review is the power of U.S. courts to examine and invalidate legislative or executive actions that conflict with the Constitution. Established by Marbury v. Madison (1803), this doctrine ensures checks and balances, allowing the judiciary to declare laws unconstitutional and, under the Administrative Procedure Act, review federal agency actions for being arbitrary.

I have made a suggestion as to why Petti's parents have engaged a lawyer. You are the (self proclaimed expert) so you tell us - I am sure that we, and the debate in general, will benefit from your encyclopaedic knowledge of US case law.

Or are you just trying to pick a fight, not exactly unknown with you in these columns is it @Yagoda ?
