Police are investigating after the body of a newborn baby boy was found in a toilet at a petrol station in Bangkok, with an 18-year-old woman claiming she gave birth without realising she was in labour. The incident occurred at 11.45pm on 13 February 2026 at a petrol station on Thakham Road, Samae Dam, Bang Khun Thian district. The infant, believed to be around nine months’ gestation, was discovered in a toilet bowl with the umbilical cord still attached.

Pol Lt Col Somphon Boonta, an investigator at Thakham Police Station, responded to the scene along with senior officers including Pol Col Theerachai Dedkhat, deputy commander of Metropolitan Police Division 9, Pol Col Thitipong Siya, superintendent of the division’s investigation unit and Pol Col Witchayanon Ektasaeng, superintendent of Thakham Police Station. Forensic doctors from Siriraj Hospital, forensic officers and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation also attended.

The baby boy was found in the toilet bowl, with a significant amount of blood around the rim and on the floor. Bloodstains were also seen trailing from the toilet to the car park outside. Initial examination by a forensic doctor found the infant measured 41 centimetres from head to toe and appeared to have been born shortly before discovery, as the umbilical cord remained attached. No other injuries or signs of physical assault were observed.

The body was first discovered by Ms Napatsorn, 34, who told police she had entered the toilet after finishing work. Upon opening the first cubicle, she saw blood around the toilet bowl and initially thought she was looking at a sponge before realising it was a baby’s arm and leg. She immediately alerted colleagues and called the police emergency number 191.

Police later reviewed CCTV footage from inside and around the petrol station. Officers led by Pol Lt Col Thanakorn Janrod and Pol Lt Col Krai-ruerk Sitthichot identified a suspect, later named only as Ms B, aged 18, who had fled to Samut Sakhon province. She was located and brought in for questioning.

During initial questioning, the suspect told police she experienced stomach pain and went to the toilet believing she needed to defecate, before unexpectedly giving birth. She claimed she did not hear the baby cry and fled in panic and fear, insisting she had no intention of causing the child’s death and had not taken any medication or used any method to induce labour.

Khoasod reported that police sent Ms B to Police Hospital for further examination and are awaiting the full autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death. The findings will form part of the ongoing investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.

When are Thai kids going to get real sex ed??? Too afraid of paedophilia? Cucumbers don't need rubbers!

Obviously, the boys don't care and leave the girl knocked up.

Where is Plan B education? Where are the orphanages to take these babies and prevent these tragedies happening over and over again???

There are many orphanages around. When I was in business in Pattaya, we regularly donated to several of them.

However, they do not only care for children without parents. They often become a place where children are left due to divorce, family breakdown, financial hardship, or because a parent has been incarcerated or is otherwise unable to care for them.

As a result, life can be very difficult for many children in Thai orphanages.

So calling emergency services was too much trouble?

What are the abortion laws again? I believe it was illegal but changed a 5-10 years ago but still remains basically not an option?

Until they fix the abortion system then they will keep finding babies in the trash.

A girl can get an unquestioned abortion up to 12 weeks? 26 weeks with a few more questions asked.

How a girl can be 9 months gone and not know is impossible.

Your honor, I rest my case in regards to my argument in favor of abortion.

Nobody goes into labor without knowing that they're pregnant, that's the lamest excuse ever offered. Such desperation and I guess it's impossible for these women to get guys to use condoms, but she can always say no condom, no entry, see you. The problem is so many don't see having a baby as being an issue, until it actually happens, and then they have to take care of the baby.

The poor baby never had a chance. RIP little guy.
