HOCKEY HORROR: 3 Dead In Rhode Island Rink Shooting

Ice rink.jpg

Three people were killed and three others wounded after gunfire erupted during a boys’ hockey game at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Monday afternoon.

Authorities confirmed the suspected gunman is among the dead.

Police said shots were fired from the stands behind the Blackstone Valley Schools bench, sending players, parents and children scrambling for cover inside the packed rink. Emergency crews flooded the scene within minutes, securing the perimeter and rushing the injured to hospital.

Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves said the shooting appears to have been “targeted” and linked to a family dispute. Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims or the suspect.

The arena sits on Andrew D. Ferland Way in Pawtucket. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as terrified children fled the building. Staff at a nearby Walgreens told police that multiple youngsters ran into the store seeking shelter, reporting that shots had been fired. The pharmacy was later cleared by officers.

Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee said he was monitoring the situation closely and had spoken with local officials and the Rhode Island State Police. “I am praying for Pawtucket and everyone involved,” he said.

Local journalists reported a heavy law enforcement presence, with state and local police responding in force.

Social media footage showed emergency vehicles crowding the area as officers moved spectators to safety.

The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not yet disclosed a motive beyond describing the incident as targeted, and authorities are expected to provide further updates.

Key Takeaways

  1. Three Dead, Three Injured – Gunfire at a youth hockey game left six shot, including the suspect.

  2. ‘Targeted’ Incident – Police say the shooting stemmed from a family dispute.

  3. Major Emergency Response – State and local law enforcement secured the arena and surrounding area.

Definitely not a straight white Christian, or we would have heard about it by now ... ad infinitum.

The shooter was a transgender woman but how do you know if the shooter was not straight or not a Christian?

The term straight is about sexual orientation which is completely different than gender identity.

Obviously, this tragic incident is going to serve as further ammunition for the maga fascist movement to ban ALL transgender people from owning guns.

Personally I'm for much more gun control overall but it's a bit weird -- maga fascists are notoriously obsessed with the second amendment (which in my view they distort the original intention) EXCEPT in cases where it might apply to people they don't like. Such hypocrites!

In cases like this in which the shooters off themselves at least there is a tiny silver lining that they save society the bother and expense of doing a trial.

Oh dear, looks like someone is more disappointed with the shooter being yet another transgender than sad about the victims of the shooting!

Or even worse, locking up the mentally ill in secure hospitals.

So, it is your position that transgender people are straight? That's hilarious.

Some are straight.

Some are gay.

Like everyone else.

Every time I go back to visit, I barely recognize the place anymore. America has been on the decline for decades now. Not in terms of GDP, but by nearly every other measurement or standard. And now, the cost of living is soaring out of control. A very low quality of life, and way too many unhinged maniacs, and far too few politicians with any sort of moral conviction. Most are bought and paid for by toxic lobbyists. The US is just as corrupt as Thailand. The difference there, is the corruption is legal and encouraged.

It is very disheartening. Nothing is being done about the killings. The dems are cowed by the progressives, and the Republicans lack any sort of moral compass, and are owned by the NRA, and are stuck in an 18th century mindset. We deserve our guns! We need our guns! You can't take away our guns! Nothing wrong with having a few guns in the house. But, there is something very, very wrong, when an insane 18 year old can easily buy assault rifles and 350 rounds of ammunition and walk right into a school and take out more people than have been mass murdered in many nations combined for decades, in one day. And there is something infinitely more wrong with America when nobody has to guts to do anything about it.

The US is a very sick, demented, twisted, confused, and morally bankrupt culture. It is a nation in rapid decline. It is not even a pale shadow of what it used to be. I am infinitely disappointed in country. They could do so much better.

I spend time in the US. You want sour and sober? You want disenfranchisement and disappointed? You want unpleasant and stressed? Come to America.

Something needs to be done. And American politicians are very weak and in constant fear of fighting a constitutional amendment that was written at a time when militias were needed and guns were manual and fairly primitive.

I share the sentiment about conservatives supporting super liberal gun control laws. I get really really sick of the phrase "thoughts and prayers", it means absolutely nothing. Are these people actually getting down on their knees and praying for the victims and their families, or are they just simply saying that inane and offensive trash when there's a microphone in front of them, which is sickening and disingenuous to the max.

Neither party seems to want to address gun control in a serious manner, and every time the Democrats make an attempt, the Republicans block them.

The GOP lets the killing continue.

Everything has changed, and the amendment does not have the same meaning, nor should it. Violence is out of control, yet they do next to nothing about it. America seems to adore it's violence.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks shootings in the US, there was 214 mass shootings in 2022 alone.

The United States has far more lax firearm laws and policies compared to other countries — the federal right to own a firearm is even baked into the United States' constitution via the Second Amendment.

Just what is going on with the trans community. It seems every single mass shooting or assassination attemp its always trans shooters. Clearly these people are totally insane and prone to violence.

Honestly, id make it illegal for everyones sake. Just way out of hand.

Actually, may not be far from reality. Even though most have removed being 'Transgender' from the list of mental disorders, back around 2013, they still consider 'Gender Dysphoria', a treatable mental illness / disorder.

If it keeps making the news, then I wouldn't be surprised, if added to the list of mental issues that would deny owning a firearm. Actually, not a bad idea, as it's shown too many times over, when people had identity complex, or feel others can't, won't accept them for who they are, the act out, and sadly, sometimes extremely violently.

Unfortunately, if falls in many of the loopholes of some states, not have access to medical records, when doing a background check. Firearm fan that I am, it is one of the loopholes, I feel that needs to be fixed, along with a couple others in some states.

Perhaps try to ban transphobia first and grant transgender people full and equal civil rights before violating the second amendment rights of an entire class of citizens.

With you on that one. Yet to hear any valid argument, that any group, is denied any rights that others are entitled to. This only applying to USA.

Etched in stone, well, the US Constitution, 14th Amendment (Equal Protection Clause).

The America you bemoan, is not restricted to only the territory of the USA. The culture that has produced the society you mention, is also exported and carried by its expat and traveling citizens. The point being is that you should not be so smug and holier than thou because you are no different than your country people. You may not appreciate that, but you have the same predisposition to political bias and aggressive politics. The only difference is that instead of lining up with Group A, you have chosen to line up with Group B.

You won't get a reply. Its just virtue signslling bs. What rights do transgenders not enjoy ?

Can anyone please give me an honest answer backed by the statute or law confirming the rights they do not receive.

In addition many maga fascist STATES have enacted explicit anti-transgender laws.

Trangender people suffer severe bigotry and very high rates of violent attacks.

Before demonizing them even further, how about treating them better? Huh? Would that ber so hard for the haters?

Trump’s anti-trans executive orders: What they are and where they stand

www.19thnews.org/2025/03/trump-anti-trans-executive-orders/

All the ways Trump wants to exclude trans people from public life

From passports to health care, the White House is trying to make it harder for transgender Americans to live openly and safely. Here's a look at the executive orders and their impact.

Federal agencies are carrying out executive orders from President Donald Trump that all share a common goal: removing transgender and nonbinary people from public life wherever possible. Through restricting access to accurate federal identity documents, threatening to withhold hospitals’ federal funding over gender-affirming care, and erasing trans history on federal websites and in schools, the Trump White House is using the federal government as a tool to make it harder for trans Americans to live openly — and safely — without fear of harassment and discrimination.

Many of these policies are based on Trump’s promise, made during his inauguration speech, that his administration will recognize only “two genders, male and female.” That promise was signed into an executive order on day one of his presidency.

It should be noted that the links above provide no statute or law stating trans so not have rights that others have.

It's bad enough what trans people have to deal with. It makes it worse when ignorant people actively DENY what is happening. Shame on you all.

As Anti-Trans Laws Get More Extreme, Here’s Where State Laws Stand in 2025 | Them

In my view, every fascist regime needs to have targets and scapegoats. In the current American flavor of fascism, maga fascism, scapegoat number one is trans people.

So no rights being violated and minors being protected is all I read in those 2 links.

Nothing trans can't do that the rest of people can do, except force their dillusions of themselves on others, and make people comply to 'their' thinking.

According to my limited understanding:

It is only biologically-(genetically)-male transgender people who have guns.

The term for that is transgender women. Of course some transgender men own guns too. Especially in Texas.
