Android tv box with 4T or more external usb hd support

Featured Replies

I’ve got an okay android box but it only supports 2T external hd capacities. I’ve got a 4T and 5T external drives but anything over 2T is not supported. I’ve scanned Lazada, Amazon and lots of “android box tips” articles but none point me in the right direction.

Cheers to the one (or more) who can shed light on this.

How would I get the hd content to the android box and then the tv?

That link is 8 years old. If my pc’s vlc app reads the external hd content, how is the content moved to my android box? Sorry for being slow.

I did ask a reasonable question, I think.

And I gave you the answers, so what is your problem? But I deleted them since you can't show respect

I hope I don’t have a problem. Have a good evening.

TBF, you did start a thread about a 75 inch TV and never bothered to reply to the answers you got.

I’m sorry Will27. I got good info on that thread, loved the 65” LG that was recommended but might have a difficult time right now affording that one or the outstanding 75” model that is so highly recommended. Sorry for previous terseness.

I went to my fav site for torrents (legal ones, of course). NVIDIA Shield TV Pro was mention as supporting over 20 Tb external usb drive. Wow. Lazada has a similarly named unit for 12,500 baht which is 10,000 baht more that I’m planning to spend. It’s got features that I’ve never heard of.

Does anybody have recommendations?

No point in looking at one that support big drives.

AI data centres have bought them all for 2026 and 2027.

Why do you need to save so many movies etc, when you can get them as and when you want to watch or listen. A 20TB disk would hold about 200 4K uncompressed movies, and far more 1080 ones..but WHY?

You will not get much for the Bht 2500 you say you want to spend.

Someone here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/t3ed5q/connect_a_4_tb_hdd_to_xiaomi_mi_box_s_to_play/

claims to have connected their 5 TB HDD to their Xiaomi TV Box S. Now it up to Gen 3, so confirm with Xiaomi prior to purchase.

Thanks Ismeuno.

The MeCool KM2 Plus is also within your budget.

But have you exhausted all other avenues as to why the drives are not being recognised?

  • Author

No I haven’t. Perhaps because there hasn’t been noticeable demand from the masses.

What is the drive formatted in NTFS,FAT,EXFAT,FAT16,FAT32 or something else EXT2 EXT3 ??

So IMHO it would seem to depend how the disk was originally formatted (cluster size)

not the Android box.

As a last resort you could try resizing the disk into 3 partitions 2Tb x 2 and a 1TB partition then you should see 3 drives ..this is risky if you don't have backup off all the data on the disk.
