Drone Battery in Aircraft

Featured Replies

I will soon be flying to Europe.

But with all the rules and exceptions, I no longer know how to take my drone with battery on the plane.

Can I leave the battery in the drone?

Or can I put my drone in my checked baggage and take the battery as hand luggage, or am I no longer allowed to take a battery for that drone at all?

Your experience and opinion are greatly appreciated, for which I thank you in advance.

Do not under any circumstances leave/keep the battery in the drone!

If you have two hold bags then put the drone in one and the battery in the other.

Batteries must always be in the hand luggage, not in your checked in suitcase. This is because batteries have a slight risk to explode or burn. And keep it separate from your drone.

Never put lithium etc batteries in the hold. Read the 'Dangerous Goods' warnings when you buy the ticket.

They can and do burst into flames suddenly and must be in hand baggage so the fire can be tackled. A fire like that in the hold will probably lead to the loss of the aircraft.

I always carry my drone as carry-on. Never had an issue, is regarded as a laptop. which also tend to have sizeable batteries.
