A Chinese national, Zhi Ling Guan, was apprehended at Port of Batangas on February 20 for allegedly using fake identities. Guan, 47, used aliases such as "Shi Nengyuan" and "Mike Sy" to conceal his true identity with fraudulent documents. The Bureau of Immigration (BI) caught the suspect following an intelligence operation in collaboration with multiple government agencies.

The arrest came after BI Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. utilized biometrics and coordinated efforts with the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO). Guan’s fingerprints on government IDs matched records identifying him as a legitimate Chinese national. Authorities also discovered that Guan had reportedly used a Philippine passport for international travel.

Guan, who admitted his Chinese nationality and business operations in Mindoro, is currently detained at the BI Warden Facility. His deportation proceedings are underway as the investigation continues to uncover the extent of his alleged deception and any potential accomplices involved, reported SMNI News.
