There are four reasons for pushing the false claim that this was not Jim Carrey;

1. Low intelligence.

2. Mental illness

3. Malicious intent to cause scandal or wind people up.

4. draw attention to oneself.

The allegation that this was an imposter originates with drag queen Alexis Stone. He/She/They has based this claim on their experience at dressing up as a woman. This is hardly the most reliable of sources and suggests reason no. 4 as the motive. In respect to the people who promote and circulate the claim, I suggest 1 and 2.

Anyone who watched the presentation will know that it was Jim Carrey. His voice pattern, and mannerisms were all his.

The man is 64 years old. I am unaware of any 64 year old who is without some white or gray hair and it is obvious this man has a good hair colourist. He was also wearing cosmetics, including a heavy coating of foundation. It is more than likely that he had multiple cosmetic procedures over the past 5 years including, botox, facelift, chin tuck, and skin peeling.

Celebrities do have body doubles. This is well known.

For several reasons ... to get away from paparazzi, more public appearances and therefore more publicity ...

But to use a body double for an awards ceremony would be odd ... because they need to mimic the voice and personality and people can analyze the video carefully.

You say the eye colour is off. OK, However, a good disguise addresses this with coloured contact lenses. Very easy to make blue eyes brown. If going to all this effort, why not take care of the eye colour?

I think the eye color is off on purpose. I think he put on blue contacts as part of the prank.

I think it was him, but he wanted to troll people into thinking it was a body double.

Also, he is probably showcasing new plastic surgery for the first time.

And he may have even tweaked his personality a bit. But after all, he is one of the greatest actors of all time, so it shouldn't be hard for him to act differently than his regular persona. He seemed almost a bit more meek and timid.

Funny because I'm listening to his second band Audioslave at the moment. A great, underrated band.

Carrey is a prankster, and likes to put on a show at award ceremonies – I remember the time he kissed Chris Isaak on the mouth to give him a taste of his own medicine in the 90s (Isaak had just forced a very uncomfortable Cameron Diaz to kiss him).

The burden of proof is on you, because you are promoting this claim. To date, you have offered nothing substantive or factual to support your imagined scenario. The claim originates with a mediocre drag queen, and I am not about to blindly accept such a claim all because Miss Thang says it is based upon her experience dressing up as a woman.
