A topic I created appears to be nearly invisible

Featured Replies

I'm talking about the long standing topic about restaurants in Pattaya:

Pattaya -Hit And Run Restaurant "review" topic - Page 4 - Pattaya - Thailand News and Discussion Forum | ASEANNOW

It had existed for many years, then closed as too long and old, and then a similar new topic that I opened.

Here is the problem.

For some unknown reason it seems be technically degraded in a way that makes it very hard to find.

In other words, when I search on Topics I started, or topics with posts that I posted to, other such topics show up on the list but this restaurant one never does!

I'm assuming if it's been degraded to find for me, other users are not easily seeing it either.

The only way I get to it myself is to search for it with keywords or go into my profile and view all content (it does show up there).

Why do I care?

Well of course the selfish part is that I put time into posting on the topic and I would like such posts to have a fair chance to be read and responded to.

But more importantly really is that if this topic is being hidden in some way, naturally there will be many fewwe other people posting about their own restaurant experiences (whcih has definitely happened). So in effect the topic which previously was quite active has been mostly castrated.

I'm not suggesting any kind of conspiracy theory about this. I'm guessing there is some technical reason. If so, can it be fixed?

That isn't my point at all.

Of course the link I posted opens.

The old post is history and I wasn't complaining about that.

It's that the CURRENT topic is indeed being HIDDEN on searches as I detailed.

To clarify further as the current topic never shows up in my "Topics I started" or "Topics I posted to" results I strongly suspect that it may not be showing up for everyone else when they search for NEW or UNREAD posts. That would make the topic really hard to find unless you go to the Pattaya forum and view the list from there.

I never search for NEW or UNREAD posts. How does one do that? I'd like to test it to see if I find your topic that way.

Top left of page there are four icons.

Click the third one to the left of the light bulb.

Post your findings please.

For this topic, I "need" people that actually take the time to read about and understand the actual issue before posting time wasting unhelpful replies.

I would also humbly request a response from "the management" because at least from one user (me) the way that one topic is being processed by the system is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT (in effect degraded) than as far as I can tell all other of the topics that I started. So if something is broken for me, I can only assume a good chance broken for all users.

What issue?... your precious thread is easily found as I have clearly pointed out.

READ THE TOPIC. Already stated multiple times.

I will give it some amount of time in the hope that this problem might be fixed.

If time passes, and it is not acknowledged or fixed, I'm considering starting a NEW TOPIC with similar subject matter with the hope that the new topic will not be crippled in the same way as the current topic.

Otherwise, I feel I am wasting my time continuing to post to the current topic.

Further clarification.

For the purposes of this possible issue the only things that really matter are whether users see the topic in question when they choose the Activity options of:

View New Content

and

View Unread

I just added a test post to the topic in question and surprise surprise it does show up on View New Content.

I wouldn't expect it to show up on my Unread activity as I obviously already read it.

SO -- either this was never a problem in the first place OR it's been mysteriously resolved.

In any case, I will continue to post to that topic and continue to test whether the invisibility is a problem, or not.

I suppose for now the help people can IGNORE this topic UNLESS I post a future report about it being a problem.
