The beaches and tourism sites of Cebu are in the global spotlight after featuring in the Netflix romantic comedy series “Boyfriend on Demand.” Filmed in February 2025, the show showcases Cebu's coastal scenery, resorts, and establishments. Tourism frontliners and hospitality staff also make appearances, emphasizing Filipino service and hospitality.

The series stars BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and South Korean actor Seo In-guk, who is also the Philippines’ celebrity Tourism Ambassador. Jisoo shared behind-the-scenes photos from Cebu on Instagram, drawing attention from fans and the media. In response, “Netflix Philippines” commented enthusiastically, and local resorts highlighted their participation.

Production was coordinated by the Department of Tourism’s Korea office and the Office of Film and Sports Tourism, along with local stakeholders. Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco noted that such international productions enhance the country's tourism profile. Highlighting unique destinations and local hospitality can boost visitor numbers and create economic opportunities.

Tourism data reveals that Cebu remains a favorite among South Korean tourists, the Philippines' largest inbound market. Last year, 1,346,301 South Koreans visited the country, comprising 20.76% of total international arrivals. The series has sparked renewed interest in Cebu, with hopes of attracting more tourists.

“Boyfriend on Demand” premiered on March 6 and follows a young woman navigating a virtual dating service. The show ranks No. 4 among Top Shows in the Philippines and all 10 episodes are streaming globally on Netflix, reported Interaksyon.
