Three public events in Thailand this month will spotlight the release of Serge Tréfeu’s latest novel, an intense saga set against the backdrop of mafia violence and the world of Thai boxing.

The author will meet readers in Pattaya on Friday 13 March at 6 p.m. at Romsay Brasserie (Beach Road, near Central Pattaya Road).

He will then appear in Bangkok on Sunday 15 March at 5 p.m. at L’Envol Art Space by Arnaud Nazare-Aga (180 Thanon Suan Phlu),

before heading north for a final event in Chiang Mai on Wednesday 18 March at 6 p.m. at CNX Sports Recovery (4 Soi Inthanin).

A novel born of tragedy

The book opens with a mafia massacre off the coast of Bang Saen, where a fishing family is torn apart. Their three children are abandoned in Pattaya, a city of excess and danger. Each takes a radically different path: Kasem, the eldest, consumed by anger; Pichaite, the youngest, who finds salvation in Thai boxing; and Mali, who is exiled and adopted abroad before an unexpected destiny propels her far beyond her origins.

From the slums to the corridors of power, Tréfeu traces a sweeping human fresco of survival, ambition and resilience. Violence, sport and exile intertwine in a narrative that explores how courage and memory can shape extraordinary lives.

The author’s world

Serge Tréfeu is well known to combat sports enthusiasts. He founded Siamfightmag.com, the leading website dedicated to Muay Thai, and has written for Karaté Bushido, Fighter, Muay Thaimes, and International Kickboxer. He has also contributed to muaythaitv.com and RMC Sport. His previous works include Voyage au pays du Muay Thai and a biography of Daniel Allouche, “The Voice” of French boxing.

Availability

The novel is published in both French and English. In Thailand, it is available at Carnets d’Asie, the bookstore of the Alliance Française in Bangkok. The book will also be on sale during the presentations in Pattaya, Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Tréfeu has also shared a video introduction to the book:

With this second novel, Serge Tréfeu offers readers a gripping journey through mafia violence, the boxing ring, and the resilience of three children whose destinies collide in unexpected ways.
