I'm planning to move to Koh Samui in few months.

I'm from Venice (Italy), but now I live in Slovenia from 3 years with my girlfriend.

We are planning to move on a warmer place (I think that few months of rains are better than few months of snow).

I will come for holiday (and some work too) in december or january, to check how it really is.

The only things I need are some electricity and an internet connection (possibly fast, and without firewalls since I also use the laptop as a phone); is it difficult to find? How expensive are the houses (for rent).

Then, if I get bored by the sun, the sea and the nature I could take a break in Bagkok, right? (I found return tickets from samui to bangkok for 80$, is it right?).

Difficult to get a fast internet connection in samui, you would need to rent somewhere with a phoneline installed or you could face a wait of months. Trouble is there is not many places with direcct phonelines and it would need to be in between chaweng or lamai for adsl isdn.
