Not really clear to me yet, topics like this always create more questions, what happens when a believer in God dies?

You are criticizing God?

The super moderator of everything?

You do that on AN and you will get reprimanded at least! (i know)

So you believe unconditionally i someone/something you think make mistakes?

That is not religion, that is a cult!

We have our own thinking from how we were raised what we think is right and wrong, and we are often right and wrong, but like I said, God knows what's best for us in the long run. When it's all is said and done, we will all see why things happened as they did.

We go to be with God in heaven.

No, not according to the bible!

This i have always found to be a major issue, when ever people die some will say "He is in a better place now"

No he is not,he is either rotting in the ground or turned into ashes.

And that's what atheists believe, but not believers. This is what is believed..........Immediate Presence: Many Christian denominations believe that a believer's soul goes instantly to be with Jesus in heaven upon death, while the physical body waits in the grave for a future physical resurrection.

  1. Soul Sleep / Waiting State: Other Christian groups, such as Seventh-day Adventists, teach that the soul enters an unconscious state or "sleep" until the second coming of Christ, at which point the body and breath are reunited.

  2. The New Glorified Body: Mainstream Christian theology holds that the permanent, perfect, and incorruptible "new body" (resurrected body) is given to believers at the final resurrection and judgment day, rather than immediately at the moment of death.

In any event, we stay with God in heaven when it's time.

Amen !

Here are just a few of my favorite quotes about religion.

John Constantine: Angels and Demons can't cross over onto our plane. So, instead we get what I call half-breeds. The influence peddlers. (guys like Trump). They can only whisper in our ears. But a single word can give you courage, or turn your favorite pleasure into your worst nightmare. Those with the demon's touch like those part angel, living alongside us. They call it the balance. I call it hypocritical BS.

Transference of fear and self loathing to an authoritarian vessel is catharsis. He absorbs their dread with his narrative. Because of this, he is effective in proportion on the amount of certainty he can project. Certain linguistic anthropologists think that religion is a language virus, that rewrites pathways in the brain, and dulls critical thinking.

From True Detective season 1.

If God almighty had been an immense duck capable of emitting an eternal quack, we would all have been born Web footed, each as infallible as the Pope - and we would never have had to learn to swim.

God doesn't give people anything. This imperfect world has many things that kill, and some kill quickly, as cancer does some children. This is the major point every atheist or God hater is missing. We only live a short time no matter our DNA, diet, exercise program of luck.

Forever isn't a comparison to those 85 years or so, so no matter how long you live, you're going to die, and if you're a believer, go on to a place without disease, pain, sorrow or worries.

That child who died in front of his parents is in heaven, waiting for his family to join him, hopefully them being believers so they also make it there. If there isn't a God, then there will be nothing afterwards. We choose to have faith, looking at the wonders of the world and seeing this was created with a plan.

What does a person have to lose if they're a believer and God doesn't exist? They have lived a decent life, living by God's laws, not hurting anyone intentionally and will die and stop existing. What happens if there is a God and you turn your back on your creator?

Do you not see you are doing the same things you accuse me of? You again have no proof otherwise, so arguing in a circle, as has been mentioned, is a waste of time. You believe what you want, and I will what I want, and you aren't going to convince me otherwise. You have been brainwashed yourself I could say, as you are also going by what others have said. You didn't invent atheism.

Try reading what I said slower next time, as you're still missing my points. Skimming has you think I lied about one thing when I was commenting on the whole.

Religion never indoctrinated me. I was taught a certain way, and when I became an adult, it all still made sense then. Adults can change their thinking if you haven't realized it. Including what you did, unless you were taught to be an atheist by your parents.

If you think you have said something of worth with this "proof" line, you really are delusional. Repeating the same nonsense over and over does not make it valid. Talk about a one-trick pony!

BTW, are you familiar with the Dunning-Kruger Effect?

And what did you think of this?

Your "theory" falls apart right at Hinduism and Buddhism... I’d rather say nothing about the rest.🫣🫣🫣

Again you're assuming your opinion is right and what I say is wrong, with no proof otherwise. This is where you should take heed to what I said earlier. You believe what you believe and others will do the same.

What's nonsense to some are facts to others. What's personal experience to some cannot be dismissed by others, What opinions one sees as facts, are still opinions.

Yes, I'm very familiar with the Dunning-Kruger effect, as I've been studying psychology for decades, and trust me, you have been noted all along with your behavior, and your deflections don't work with people like me. You think you've been right and you haven't been, but that won't change how you act here, for definite reasons possibly unknown to you. That my knowledge on the subject far supersedes yours has been evident all along, in your other alias as well. Not a good thing when you're busted and can't come to grips to your own failures.

Not a one trick pony or delusional in any matters here, but then again, it might pass you by.

Again, when you can prove someone wrong about God, you're free to try, but seeing no one alive has ever disproved God exists, join that exclusive club, while those that believe will see God with open arms when they pass. So much energy trying to prove others wrong about God, which will never come to fruition, and why waste time, again, doing this? Just be atheists, and let us believe.

You believe what you believe and others will do the same.

You could not be more wrong. What is needed is "supporting evidence". Your harping on about "proof" shows how little you understand how the world changed after the Enlightenment, when religion was exposed for the fact-free hoax that it is.

From a scientific and empirical standpoint, there is no physical, measurable, or verifiable evidence that demonstrates the existence of a god or supernatural deity.

Religions that created gods have all been proven to be untrue stories. There is no evidence Moses even existed.

A lot of rock songs are about the devil, as he is part of life, and songs are written about the life experiences of many writers. Some sound like they are into the devil, like Ozzy did, but are far from the truth. Some abhor the devil, and some just accept that he's been around a long time. If you listen close to what many of the songs are saying, they're a part of fantasy, reality, dreams, fears and actual experiences, and aren't always how a person who sings them live their lives.

People don't come from the devil but are led to him first by parents and then by peers. The devil is laughing at many of these comments, as his biggest trick will always be having people think he doesn't exist.

Why nonsense? You think an entity that created everything from his mind doesn't know what humans need?

Science has said the universe came from a big bang, but we know it was a creation from God and didn't just happen. Scientists make a lot of theories that aren't proven factual.

Particles winking in and out isn't an explanation for a universe created with all of it's wonders and especially life forms, which never existed before but are here now.

That humans have some DNA as an amoeba has doesn't mean we are from them, but that there's a certain amount of DNA on earth that all species carries. We all come from LUCA, and that to us is God's creation, a start, where all life forms came from. That God created us from that DNA and all other species from that same start is his miracle, which might someday be explained thoroughly, or at least when we die and talk to God ourselves to learn all the answers.

I haven't said God was evil, but that he did things that looked evil but his reasons aren't the same as ours, as he knows the endgame and we don't. Remember, forever compared to 85 years.

In Christian theology, the only unpardonable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which is a permanent and final rejection of God's grace and the conviction to repent. What It Means: Theologians generally explain it not as a single spoken word or accidental U-turn, but as a hardened, deliberate, and ongoing choice to call good evil and permanently shut out the Holy Spirit's call to turn toward God.

Does anybody remember this thread from June? Do you believe in Anything? And, why? https://aseannow.com/topic/1396716-do-you-believe-in-anything-and-why/

All religions have some good teachings but mostly just common sense. Belief in god is fine if you keep it to yourself. Problems arise when religious groups have power over countries. Pubs should be able to open on Good Friday and sell beer. This is a breach of freedom.

Religions should be keep to temples. Go to your temple. Pray. Leave the rest of society alone.

Not ever hearing about God is not going to stop them from entering heaven, as they wouldn't have a concept of right or wrong and not know the commandments their creator made. Humans are animals and act upon that until taught restraint.

I'll be done with you with this reply, as you keep missing the points made, and think it's gibberish because you don't agree with it.

You still keep missing that I said this isn't about religions per se but belief in God. I chose Christianity. You chose atheism. Religions practiced the wrong way have killed millions, and some religions are plain false. That's where your own beliefs come in, which aren't anyone's business.

Thinking people are stupid or wrong because they believe and you don't is outright ignorance, and is why it isn't worth going any further with you.

You think it's poisoning the minds of children and we think it's the most important learning experience a human has. Teaching about God isn't harming anyone, as those who believe try to be good humans, following God's laws. What is the poison? Living as a believer can have you treating others well around you.

This doesn't mean all believers are decent people as some abuse that belief and twist their religions around to control or kill.

I think you aren't realizing how this world would be if everyone thought like you.

Atheism doesn't mean you're definitely going to treat others well. There is no fear of judgement there, and people might just do anything they please without thinking of the final consequences. Belief in God has millions showing restraint since the beginning of the knowledge about God. Assuming i haven't studied things and don't look to all possibilities is assuming.

Edited by fredwiggy

If God existed and has power over the earth he could have struck Hitler down with a lightning bolt. Daily murders, God does nothing. The evidence against God is strong. The only evidence for God is the big bang theory is flawed therefore maybe God exists which is pretty weak. So because science can't explain everything religion survives. In a 1000 years when science is much better the religions will be fringe dwelling minority groups.

You keep hiding behind what ever it is you are convinced of but you know for sure you are right and every body else is wrong.

The point of all of this is, there are so many different religions in the world and many of them all started of the same, virgin mother and all the rest but of course you already know this.

You are saying Faith tells you you are on the right track,i can guarantee you other people from other religions will say exactly the same.

Just a few more, can Jews go to heaven?

Can Muslims go to heaven?

and why or why not?
