A Single Sheet Of Paper

I do housepaints on walls - most of my work recently has been indoor themes with the occasional ceiling. I am thinking that I will branch out to doing some ouside views after the local rains finish but before the hot season starts.

I've got an idea for your outside view work.....why not paint the entire house so it looks just like a house!!!!! Wild!!! I'm sure people will drive buy and think, "that looks just like a house over there"!......and what is even better....is....the fact....that.....they will be right!!!! It WILL be just like a house over there!!!!

You may be weird but that does not make you original. I have already done this to my house and people already think that it looks just like a house painted to look like a house. In fact you will probably be surprised to find out that there are a lot of them out there. People have been painting houses to look like houses for a very long time now and some people even do it for a job.

The ones that are interesting and original are the houses painted to look like something else such as a hamburger or a beagle. That shows real creativity.

Glad you like it - here are some I prepared before

First up - the big Merino (locally known as "Rambo". Stands (very proudly) 15 metres high and is a most tasteful replica of the type of sheep that populate the area. It's got to be one of the most famous Big Things in Australia. Don't be put off by the Goulburn bypass between Sydney and Canberra, take a detour to the Big Merino on Hume Street, Goulburn, and have your photo taken in front of this icon of Australian agricultural history, before a bunch of New Zealander finish the giant concrete "Big Kiwi Sheep Shagger" right behind him.

Other ones of note are: the big banana in Coffs Harbour, and one specially for you:

The big galah: Kimba is a little town with a big thing going for it - the Big Galah. It's perched out the front of the tourist gift shop called "Half Way Across Australia". That's because Kimba is midway between the east and west coasts of this wide, brown land. Our local bird expert has said that the Big Galah looks like it needs a good feed. Bring on the Big Wheat Bag.

Wow!!!! I am impressed.....I've never seen a paint job that could so effectively give the illusion of a strange shape!!.......it must be in the shading....right?

How many bedrooms in the sheepish house and the parrot?

Chownah

Edit: I went looking for the big sheep and was disgusted to find out that IT IS NOT A HOUSE AT ALL!!!!!!....and....IT IS NOT PAINTED TO LOOK LIKE A SHEEP...IT IS ACTUALLY SHAPED LIKE A SHEEP!!! And....it appears that the picture posted here looks nothing at all like the pictures on the internet....what gives? I THOUGHT WE WERE DISCUSSING PAINTING HOUSES TO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING ELSE...THIS IS A CONCRETE SHEEP PAINTED TO LOOK LIKE A CONCRETE SHEEP.....which I'll admit is very creative....I suppose that if you were to paint this sheep you would proably try to paint it to look like something else....a chicken perhaps...or a hot dog. I'm not going to waste my time looking for the parrot...it's probably just a big paperweight painted to look like a parrot....yeah...that's creative...a big lump of concrete painted to look like a parrot.

Oh, crowbar....I hope I haven't embarrassed you. Let's just let bygones be bygones and to get thing on topic again let me just recreate (from the Chiangrai forum) part of one of your first posts as a mod:

Please feel free to continue this conversation

No hard feelings,

Chownah

I was so poor, i once wanted to paint my cardboard box to look like a house. I stole a dog to use it's tail as a brush but i couldn't afford the paint. I've still got the very same box but it's had 14 new lids and 20 new bottoms :o

Oh, crowbar....I hope I haven't embarrassed you.

Nothing embarrasses me, I have been set up by experts and on occasion made a total prat of myself (refer to Soundman's "when have you made an ass of yourself" thread)

No hard feelings,

Chownah

I don't hold grudges - I got over that many years ago as being a waste of energy. I am enjoying the CR forum, it is going to take me a while to settle into it but it will work out.

thanks

Actually you are correct it really is a big lump of concrete shaped like a big lump of concrete looking like something else. Australians have a fixation about these things. London has Big Ben, Goulburn has the Big Merino.

If you are interested this link Big Stuff has some more. There are quite a lot more of them but you will get the idea.
