Hi, Solo Siam,

Hi, Dominique355,

your diesel consumption sounds very unhealthy. A Mitsubishi sales person told me the consumption would be between 5 till 6 litre for 100 km.

Could it be you are driving like Alonso on Thailands freeways? Or are you driving like a Thai farmer with a fully loaded pick-up of pineapples?

It is also very well kown that a 4 WD car uses a lot of diesel more in comparison to a 2 WD one.

I would be very happy if someone could give me the consumption for a 2,5 litre and 2 WD car. If possible for an unloaded car and would tell me where the driving took place , on a freeway or in town.

But, nevertheless thank you very much for both of you!

I am on the way in buying a car like a Mitsubishi Triton 2,5 double cab 4+2 automatic with 116 PS.

Does anyone know the diesel consumption of this car for 100 km?

For your honest and professional answers many thanks in advance.

Sounds like you've not fully made up your mind yet. Have you considered the new Nissan Navara - 174 PS and a fantastic 404Nm Torque all from a 2.5L diesel. Off the top of my head the consumption is quoted as about 15 Klm/Ltr

I have a Triton Plus 2.5 litre 2WD (manual) and I average about 12.5 km per litre, or 8 litres per 100km, or just over 35 miles per gallon, depending on what language you speak. I check it by filling the tank, driving for about 600-700km then refilling and working it out. Done this many times. Best was 14km per litre and the worst was 11.5 but these could be due to over/under filling, most of the time its within a few km's of 12.5km per litre. Most of the driving I do is around Chonburi, down to Pattaya, sometimes to Bangkok and the occasional trip to Korat.

pretty much bullsh*t from the salesperson, and spot on from sumrit ! I just drove with my friend from KL to Bkk, his is same Triton2,5 4*2 AUTO>> he used not less than 11 liters per 100 km in Malaysian city cycle (very different to thai, due to less wait in traffic lights & more open spaces ) , when we drove , his was 9,5 l/100km on highway, preety slow ave.100-120km/h. best would be 9l/100km.. speed doesn't increases consumption by any significant volume, but stopping & accelerating does .

Anyway since you've mentioned AUTO ,, that's the best you can hope for. From my own experiences Mitsu's are never economic in fuel consumption

Hi to all,

thank you very much for your helpful information. Thank good-ness I didn't make up my mind up till now. With this high consumption of diesel it isn't advicable to buy a Mitsubishi Trition. Hmm, the information from geoff and martynsnowman can save me a lot of money

and I really have to inform me about a NISSAN NAVARA!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you.

I may be getting confused, I think that the measurement on the Triton dash is l/100km

in which case I am getting from 7-10 litres per 100km. Or 10 to 14.5 km per litre depending on air-con use.

It doesn't feel expensive, anyhow.

I don't have a heavy foot, its a big engine though - my company also has a 2.5 manual diesel vigo, the Triton isn't that much more expensive on fuel. The 2.7VTi petrol Vigo uses around twice as much fuel as the Triton.

You're right, but he was asking abt. automatic Mitsu, and anyways the comp. on the dash is a bit off in the calculation..

The best is to fill it up .. count 2-300km.. & refill it to the brim again, than you'll see.

i only owned sedans, but i can assure on the long haul drives mitsu is worst with toyota best consumptionwise..
