Hi Sampam, hope you are doing well.

I am curious, what do you think of lip lifts (in the context of decreasing philtrum length or decreasing midface length)?

Hi Marky,

thanks for replying to my post and the names of the two doctors. I had seen Dr. Pungpapong and I had the same impression - operates only when they feel it is necessary.

I wish you a speedy recovery and that your are more than happy with the result of Dr. Kunachak's surgery. Keep us posted. Would be good to hear from someone who had lid surgery with him.

All the best,

shakun

Hi

Please forward opinions fast since thisll happen on weekend.

I have been looking around for a plastic surgeon for facial surgery namely rhinoplasty and chin implants.

I emailed some doctors:

Dr Preecha

Yanhee Hospital

Dr. Sorawuth Chu-Ongsakul @ Bumrungrad Hospital

Dr Somyos Kunachak

Dr Poomee

Dr Pichet

Dr Witoon

Now so far Preecha's reply has been very slow and only 3 sentences.

Yanhee took a while but got there.

Sorawuth has been relatively prompt and more on the ball.

Somyos has been ok.

Poomee took a long time only to say hes busy.

Pichet very fast and prompt.

Witoon waiting on.

Now the procedures that seem to be generally consented amongst these surgeons are :

Rhinoplasty

Chin Implant

Malar/Cheek enhancement

Now the thing is when all others are quoting me prices like 2800usd rhinoplasty + $900usd Chin implant Dr Sorawuth is only charging me 35000THB for both rhinoplasty and chin implant but he doesnt agree on the following:

Said I dont need Malar enhancement(When Somyos and Pichet and Preecha said I should).

For rhinoplasty he said hel_l augment the dorsum(nose bridge) with implant and modify the tip with implant and correct hump(just like all the other surgeons) but he said nostril size is fine and so is the bony width of the nose (width no one has had an issue with though it has been an option but again Pichet Preecha and Somyos had recommended I reduce nostrils)

I cant find any information on Dr. Sorawuth Chu-Ongsakul except his basic educational background via bumrungrad website and that he has published some work and studied medical management or something in the US and is Thai board certified PS working for a while now at Bumrungrad. I havent been able to find anything bad about him but apart from 1-2 reviews I havent found anything else good either.

So I need to know from the community whats the opinion here?

I was actually dragged in by my friend whose been his client and maybe thats why hes giving me such a cheap price???

But unless I can find a reason not to go his price seems incredibly cheap considering hes a PS at bumrungrad hospital!!

I mean come on $1100USD for rhino and chin done at Bumrungrad compared to $3600usd or so for Preecha, Somyos or Pichet?????

He did say the procedures are via Local anesthetic and light sedation rather than General anesthetic which If I want I can pay 50000THB for and itll include overnight stay in ward.

Please help and offer opinions, reviews any links or information/news you may have.

Thank you kindly all

i used Sorawuth for eye lift upper and the local anestetic although worked well was very uncomfotable. I was not sedated and i wish i was. I could smell the burning and i could not relax. However 3 years on my eyes look fantastic and for 750 US dollars one could not fault the work or the hospital. Only thing was when i asked him what the smell was his reply was "only your flesh burning" and i just laugh at it now. Both my sister and i went to Dr Poomme last summer and had face lift and breast life and his work is fantastic, although his wife is a hard core pushy false sales woman. She meets and greets u at the hospital and although sweet as she is she is a pain. Im very happy with the results from Both doctors, I walked in with no research for Sorawith, but wanted a consultation on a mini face life and he said no to me, i then asked about a breast lifet and he said come back in a year when u have lost weight, i was feeling then i wanted to do something so i asked about an upper eye lift and he said he could see that it would give me a better look. So we did it there and then. Yes i know i took a change but i landed at BKK at 130 and was out and shopping with my eye patches and sun glasses at 830pm. he was honest and nice and i trusted him immediatly. the reason we never used him for the Face work was because my sister researched poommee and as chief o staff she had more confidence in him, so i went along with her an had my breasts done pn the same morning. hope this is not too late to help u

I have just had a meeting with

Dr. Sorawuth Chu-ongsakul

at Thonburi hospital.

I was stunned by his lack of professionalism!

He tried to get my girl in on Friday for her implant because he was not busy! (today is Wednesday)

When pushed about how he thought she would look he said "i don't know until I do the operation"

I further asked him to draw a picture of how he thought the shape of her nose would change: he could not do this and would only go on about

the L shaped silicone implant.

Rest assured we will not be using him under any circumstances!!

Maybe the guy is great but nobody is going to operate on my GF's face without going through the full procedure and prospective outcome!

Before any of you start I do not care whether my girl does or does not have her nose done. It is her decision entirely. all I want to do is ensure she gets the full information before she even considers going forward.

Plastic surgery: the new addiction

<H2 class="sub-heading padding-top-5 padding-bottom-15"></H2>Sarah-Kate Templeton, Health Correspondent div#related-article-links p a, div#related-article-links p a:visited {color:#06c;}PLASTIC surgeons are to be issued with a checklist to weed out the increasing number of patients who are becoming “addicted” to cosmetic surgery to improve their appearance. Adam Searle, the president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps), will tell fellow surgeons at a conference to be on the lookout for patients hooked on cosmetic surgery or Botox treatments and those who have “imagined ugly syndrome”, also known as body dysmorphic disorder.

The ready availability and increasing social acceptability of cosmetic surgery have fuelled demand. Research by Baaps released in May found there were 22,041 cosmetic operations excluding Botox injections in Britain last year, up 35% on 2004. These included 5,646 breast enlargements.

Even surgeons who profit from the boom are now admitting some of this treatment may be unnecessary. Searle is drawing up a checklist for fellow surgeons to help them avoid treating patients who return for repeat procedures simply because they get a “buzz” from their new looks or because they are fixated with perfecting the appearance of a particular part of their body.

“There are people who develop a dependency on the support they appear to get from cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery is potentially habit-forming,” said Searle.

“These people feel a sense of psychological wellbeing after one procedure and this fuels the notion that they would feel even better if they had another.”

Patients with “imagined ugly syndrome” may never be happy with the changes brought about by surgery. Searle will warn surgeons that if they treat a patient with this disorder they may exacerbate the condition. The patient is unlikely to be content with the outcome and may blame the surgeon for making what they regard as a deformity worse.

“These patients . . . will be surprisingly vague about what they believe to be wrong with the part of their anatomy they are unhappy with. They will say, ‘It is just not right’.”

Patients using Botox injections to reduce facial wrinkles are particularly prone to compulsive behaviour. One study to be presented at the Baaps conference shows 40% of patients using Botox expressed a compulsive drive for futher treatment.

The research, by Martin Kelly, a plastic surgeon with London Plastic Surgery Associates, says: “Botox injection is the fastest-growing cosmetic procedure yet the addictive appeal surrounding Botox has been largely ignored.”

The rise of celebrity culture has played a significant part in the growth of cosmetic surgery. Sharon Osbourne, the television presenter, has spoken openly of spending up to £300,000 on plastic surgery, including having her breasts, legs and bottom altered.

Dr Eileen Bradbury, a consultant psychologist at the Alexandra hospital in Cheadle, near Manchester, treats patients who have become hooked on cosmetic procedures.

“People can become addicted to the anticipation, the excitement and the attention they receive,” said Bradbury. “There is a short-lived result of feeling fabulous. But the post-procedure high fades, life goes back to normal and all the mundane problems come back so you need to go for another fix.”

Cindy Jackson, 50, from London, has spent a reported £50,000 on nine operations involving 21 procedures since 1988, which she documents on her website. She has had cheek implants and reshaped her knees by using liposuction from her waist.

At one stage she had her breasts enlarged from a C to a D cup, but then changed them back again because she was uncomfortable with the silicone. She also submitted to dermabrasion, a procedure in which the skin is removed with a rotating wire brush until raw. As it heals, the skin thickens to give a more youthful appearance.

So I can't comment on facial surgery, but I had breast augmentation 3 months ago with Dr Sorawuth Chu-Ongsakul at Bumrungrad

Seriously he is the BEST. I have always had small underdeveloped breasts since teenage years. Dr Sorawuth took the time to sit with me, answer all my questions and look at implant sizes. Surgery was scheduled that same evening all the paperwork was filled out efficiency and with ease.

To cut a long story short, I am now 3 months post-op and couldn't be happier. I was expecting more pain but surprisingly, wasn't half as painful as I imagined. I could move about on 2nd day post op. Stopped painkillers 3 days post op because didn't need it. I was expecting some blood but when removed the breast bandages, just stood there not believing my eyes- the bandage was white almost clean as new maybe 2 to 3 tiny specks of blood after all that surgery!!!

Now I start to realize how good Dr Sorawuth must have been he dissected the breast inplant pocket such that pain and bleeding was so minimal. He selected the implants size (I actually wanted smaller) such that it was perfect for my frame. Not too small but not too big. No one could tell I had surgery except my mom who I told and even she who does not believe in plastic surgery agrees that the size and appearance is just perfect. I could not recommend Dr Sorawuth enough.

Only thing now thinking back is that he is somewhat cold and business like. I was initially turned off when he said like "Undress please" not even to me but to the nurses, to take off my clothes and start drawing or touching, but the skill and aesthetic result more than makes up for this I guess ?
