Motorcyclist Swerves to Avoid Speed Bump, Pillion Passenger Crushed by Lorry
Picture from responders. A road crash in Bang Pu Industrial Estate, Samut Prakan, claimed the life of a 42-year-old woman after a motorcyclist lost control and she fell off, under a six-wheel lorry. The incident occurred in Soi Nikom Usahakam Bang Pu 1C, Phraeksa Subdistrict, Bang Phli District. Police officers from Bang Pu Police Station, along with Ruamkatanyu Foundation emergency responders, arrived at the scene following reports of the crash. Upon arrival, they found a 54-year-old male motorcyclist with minor injuries. Nearby, the body of Ms. Oytip Mongkolthong, 42, from Pathum Thani, lay on the road. A white Honda Wave motorbike with a yellow Samut Prakan licence plate was found overturned with minor damage. A white Hino six-wheel lorry, also registered in Samut Prakan, was parked at the roadside a short distance away. Investigations revealed a deep pothole near the scene, with skid marks and evidence of the crash leading up to where the motorbike had fallen. Mr. Tik, a municipal worker who had been driving a pickup truck behind the lorry, recounted the events leading to the fatal crash. According to his testimony, the lorry had turned into the industrial estate from Soi Sam Huang, with the motorbike riding parallel to it. Upon encountering a speed bump, the motorcyclist veered towards the shoulder of the road to avoid it, inadvertently hitting a pothole. The impact caused the rider to lose control, sending the pillion passenger tumbling into the path of the lorry, which tragically ran over her. Authorities have documented the scene, taken photographs, and recorded statements from witnesses. The deceased’s body has been transferred to Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital. Both the lorry driver and the motorcyclist have been taken to the police station for further questioning as part of the legal proceedings. -- 2025-02-05 -

USAID - Dems in full delusional mode as usual
The U.S. has a proliferation of lawyers and has become a litigious society with people suing for everything under the sun including medical malpractice. As a result medical malpractice insurance and defensive medicine can make healthcare more expensive than elsewhere. Most procedures here are covered by private and government insurance with varying amounts of co-pay. Hospitals, by federal law, are not allowed to deny anyone with few exceptions. Yes, our system is expensive and not without flaws, but I rather get sick here than anywhere else I have been. I rarely have co-pays and when I do they are very little. -
