Registering A Car

As the topic description asks, do the owner and buyer of a second hand motor have to be there when registering the change of vehicle?

Or can the buyer register it alone? If he can, what proof of new ownership would he need? Would any documents proving purchase need to be in Thai?

Finally, if I buy a car in Pattaya and live in BKK, would I have to register when I buy (in Pattaya) and re-register later where I live?

Thanks

They dont need to be present but there is an additional power of attorney type form that has to be signed if they are not..

Proof of ownership is one of the forms signed indicating transfer.. Obviously the book also.. All the documents are in Thai..

You also need copies of current visa stamps and entry cards if farang.. ID cards and tabien baan if Thai.. Proof of residence letter for farang purchaser and your non imm visa..

Yes cars are based in regions and if you change region you can / should change the car.. Otherwise it has to return for resale and possibly taxation.

I got mine from the local transport office - where you go to have the inspection and change the title on the tabien rot.

Hi. i dont have an answer to this, but I have a question: Can I bye and register a car as a falang with my name in the contract? I renting an apartment and travel to Thailand on tourist visa only.

Harry.

If you buy a 2nd hand car from a dealer, what documents to you need to put it into your name? Who will register it, does the dealer usually do all that or do you need to go somewhere yourself?

Can you register a car in Bangkok even though your immigration address confirmation states an address in another province?
