October 17, 200718 yr Currently have 1st Class Motor Insurance which is coming up for renewal, on a 2 year old Vigo 4WD/4DR in Chonburi/Rayong. Last premium was a touch under 20,000 Bt with Bangkok Insurance. Will be 2 years, without claim ... hopefully :-) I wanted to try and get something akin to good Comprehensive coverage in the UK - so this would mean 100% of current value if written off (rather than 80%), provision of hire vehicle if undergoing accident repairs, dealership repair etc. I have a friend who was without their almost new car for months as they waited for repairs, paying a fortune for a hire car. I guess the insurance company would have been pushing for rapid completion if they were paying the hire bill. I've gone through a lot of posts on here and elsewhere and come up with quite a few insurance company recommendations, but they seem largely based upon price, rather than policy cover and efficiency in the case of a claim. So, does anyone have any recommendations/experiences, good or bad? I'll post some of the info I've gleaned below.
