Family Friendly Pub / Bar In Bangkok

Featured Replies

We'll all be in Bangkok on Saturday and need a pub / bar to watch the Merseyside Derby in case the hotel has no sports channel. Can anyone recommend a place that will be OK to take the missus and child. We'll be staying opposite Fortune City but anywhere will do, maybe around Sukhumvit?

gullivers sports bar sound, sukhumvit 7 go past amari boulevard hotel, and its further up on your right.

Apart from it's on Sukhumvit 5 !!

Or alternatively the Londoner on the corner of Sukhumvit soi 33.

i wouldnt consider any of the above as family friendly though :o

londoner is sooooooo big and loud. perhaps it depends how young your children are? I wouldnt want to take kids below 13 and subject them to that kind of noisy environment

gullivers...hmmm another extremely busy place...with so many screens of sports running in all angles.....each competing /distracting attention from the other. not my fav place.

but I dont have any better suggestion either......

I thought Gulliver's is a bargirl bar? Not the sort of place my missus would like.

The daughter is 3 years old but I expect all the places will be noisy during the match, I know I will be when we score!!

What about Bully's? I've been in there before alone but it seems more like an American Bar?

Or the Black Swan on Sukhumvit, that's too small to get a crowd in but I don't know if it has a telly and shows the match.

What about the Robin Hood where we had the beer night then Mig ? Not a girly bar , 1 big screen & a couple of smaller tv's around the place.

I thought about the Londoner because the dining area is spacious but out the way of the bar & service area. Must admit never thinking it was a loud place though.

there is lots of girls playing pool, but would not say its a bargirl bar in gullivers. and its got the big screen, would like to be there myself, but will be in the red lion in chiang mai, giving the owner stick. as he is a red s-ite

If you want family friendly then just of koa san is a better bet than sukumvit.

To the left of the main strip they have a lot of friendly bars which are not that busy and ideal for watching football.

If worse comes to worse tou can always come and watch it at my gaff , as long as your a Liverpool supporter :D . I'm staying in this weekend as the rugby world cup final is on after so I want to be on top form , if I go out it might get messy after the Derby , win lose or draw :o:D .

Gulivers on KSR & Sukhumvit are usually full of hookers. The sound quality in Gulivers on Suk is awful also for watching sports.

Robin Hood, Londoners and Dubliners all have big screen TV's and are pretty family friendly IMHO.

Yep , agreed but the Dubliner for me is a bit small & cramped when there's 20 - 30 people in there.

based on above suggestions, Id say Robin Hood might be your best bet :o

but if it were me Id opt for the scouse's place.....his missus might offer some homecooked meal :D

points that stand out from my experiences of both bullys and gullivers:

a. freelancers.

b. crap music - shayne ward/no promises, james blunt/you're beautiful etc. :D:o

Where is the Robin Hood? That's a new one on me.

The Dubliner is corner of Washington Square right?

Thanks for the invite ScouseMouse but I'm not of your persuasion although the missus is :o the daughter is being brought up right though!

Robin Hood is almost across the road from Emporium. if you are coming from Asoke direction, its further down past Sukhumvit soi 33 (past Londoner), but before you get to Soi 35. (I think.......)

its certainly almost across the road from Emporium.

enjoy :o

I'd agree with what the others say. Would probably say that the Robin Hood is the best bet, although the Londoner is okay as well. Soi 8 on Soi 8 Sukhumvit is another option, and I have taken my daughter in there a few times wih no problems. As regards Gullivers, steer clear on a Sat night, it's full of Chavs and hookers, and I don't think younger children are allowed into the bit where the big screen is anyway.

how come you never brought her to meet the 'old gran'? :o
