Hi all,

this is not advertising :D

just saw yesterday a sign in Deli Supermarket that they have a promotion of Food Tasting on Oct 30 + 31

afternoon.

Apparently a company from Bangkok starting to sell now in Phuket. FINALLY

I tasted some of their products already and they are simply great and delicious :o

anybody wants to know the company, have a look at Deli or PM me, cause I think posting the name here will result in wrist slapping to Seppl :D

Hi Donna,

thank you very much. Please do stop by, there gonna be a lot of sausages to taste from German to British favorites - by the way, our best selling Hotel Breakfast sausage is Cumberland 2.5 inches long in natural pork casings of course followed by Thueringer in sheep casings

Unfortunately I can not be there, am "snowed under" with work here, but our rep. will take good care of you :o

If they were that good, you wouldn't need to keep putting up threads about them.

Mods. Can we all set up threads to promote our businesses on here? And can we keep them going by putting up daily questions supposedly from people not connected to our businesses?

Then we could all post daily to try and keep our adverts at the top of the forum!!! Do we really want 10,000 spurious threads put up by expats! NO!

PUT THEM IN THE WESTERN FOOD SECTION FOR GODS SAKE!!!

Hi Dupont,

are you attempting to stop people to answer a thread on a subject they are interested in just because you may not be?

Or is there a more sinister reason? Do we have to ask your permission to put up posters to promote our service in Phuket thus informing people who than may write about it in this forum, informing their fellow members ?

This is a free forum for Phuket and I believe this is a Phuket matter since it takes place in Phuket - do you understand the logic?

You are also implying that we are involved in this thread and have used devious methods to get it going and keeping it up - here is some news for you, we don't need to since we are sponsors and we do not take lightly to being accused of using mischievous methods to promote our products.

I shall leave it up to the originator of this thread and the other people, including Donna who herself is a Moderator who input information, questions and answers to deal with your accusations since you are openly calling them dishonest !

Finally, do you feel threatened by our products now being offered in Phuket ? Are we in any way endangering your sales?

Oh dear, I was most disappointed at the Deli tasting. Maybe it was just not my thing. I had built up my expectations too high, expecting the smell & sound of sizzling fresh sausages. All I saw was a revolting eel like fish, and plates of cold samples that looked like leftovers from a few days ago. I really had wanted to sample the lentil soup, but that was just a cold mush. I was not the least tempted to sample anything at all, and just got on with my weekly Deli shopping.

I really hope that I was just unlucky with my timing (13.00 todat 31st Oct) and that other TV member had a good tasting .... :o

speak for yourself Dupont. i'd rather read a 100 threads about good food than a fraction of the daily whining catch of the day from the usual suspects

"YIKES! why is it that Thailand, Thais, thai wives, bargirls, taxi drivers, baht buses, immigration, thai neigbours, economy, infrastructure, health care, etc., etc., etc. are all YUCK?!"

Dear LivingKata,

read your entry and already spoke to our rep. - to start , the Eal like fish is NOT our product - we do not do any fish ! - and I hope it was not implied that it was - as far as the sausages and food in jars are concerned, you must have been unlucky to have arrived at a time just before the samples were changed - the problem is simple, you can not keep sausages indefinately on a hotplate and in a case like the Deli with irregular customer flow this can happen.

If you keep a lentil soup hot for some time.. well, afraid that's what gonna happen - however, we will have another tasting/promotion in November where things will e a little better organized with a Bain Marie etc ...

We have done tastings in Villa in Bangkok where you have a more regular flow of customers and kept the sausage on a grill but when you have no one come in for one hour and than 40 people within one hour.... things can get difficult.

Mea Culpa

JohnBKKK, thanks for taking the time to respond. And thanks for at least taking the time & expense to present your foods on Phuket Island.

One point, then why the heck was that fish on your display table, with samples of cooked fish to taste..... ??

The beauty of any social networking site, especially Thaivisa.com is that members are presented with a range of optional topics to read and engage in. If any particular thread does not interest a particular member they are not duty bound to read it and the system allows the member to read alternate threads instead. Being critical of a thread that one does not wish to read or engage in seems therefore somewhat odd, unless there are other motives.

Dear LivingKata:

funny your posts and let me reply to some things.

just to let you know, why I am interested in this tasting and checked it out carefully.

My Company soon to be launched for mail order food in Thailand (see various posts in "western food" Issan forum") will have all EUROGOURMET products available for sale ONLINE.

as a matter of fact, due to this tasting I made a contract after the first day of this promotion with EUROGOURMET !

:D

Thus is my interest and I checked all out by myself and through some friends which I sent.

Here my comments to your posts:

1. The Eel like fish, was in fact eel and yes and it was delicious and yes it was separated from all the other food and yes it was written there EIGENPRODUKTION and in English OWN PRODUCTION. thus thanks to that I have a new product now as well.

The staff pointed out to me that this was from a friend of theirs in Issan and had nothing to do with Eurogourmet

2. some samples looked not fresh, but watching how they did it, I guess it was more the sourrounding in Deli which was the reason behind. I asked the owner and he explained that "you cannot cook inside the showroom !"

3. did you ask the staff, why the samples might look "old" ? John has answered to that and I got fresh ones, because they where changed every now and then and they made me even a hot sizzling Currywurst with that Curry Sauce they had. Just woonderful !

4. did you ask the staff whether you can have a fresh lentil sample etc etc ? I did so and they where more than pleased to help.

5. many people (including myself) filled in questionaires with suggestions, critic, laurels and others. I am very sure you did so as well and pointed all the deficits out. So EUROGOURMET can respond to that

I guess John and other TV members, who where there will respond to you accordingly.

to John: congratulations and good success in Phuket. I will definitely buy your stuff in Deli and I was very pleased to have the opportunity to try and taste everything WITHOUT having to buy all that stuff first hand. :bah::D:D:o

Not expensive Gerd :o - good value for money

Euro Gourmet in Phuket

Gerd, your link appears not to work and presumably you have prices in there?

Morning Rob,

I took it off from my blog because I do not want to be blamed for advertising someone else's business.

I like to follow up topics with food but it looks like many people getting very serious about this.

Let's have some fun here and not starting a war.

No problem Gerd, it looks like the sausage tasting session got high jacked by the unscheduled eel tasting session.

I don't really want to say much more on this topic, but will answer the points directed to me as above.

2. We planned our arrival early, just after the 12.00 start time, in the expectation of freshly cooked food. All the samples on display were clearly form the day before.

3. No I did not make any comment to the staff as they both seemed bored and disinterested. Yes, I was asked to try out the samples, but I guess I was shell shocked (and almost vomited at the sight of the eel artfully coiled on the plate), and politely declined as I did not want to make a fuss asking for food to be cooked for us, the only customers in the whole shop.

4. Ditto as above.

In retrospect maybe I should have gone shopping later in the day when more folks were in the shop.

One suggestion to the EuroGourmet... maybe it would be best to have smaller windows of just an hour or so with fresh food on offer, rather than a 6 hour session.
