Hutchings sacked as Wigan manager

Chris Hutchings leaves the club two days after losing to Chelsea

Wigan have elected to sack Chris Hutchings with immediate effect, the Premier League club has announced.

Assistant manager Frank Barlow takes charge on a caretaker basis, starting with Sunday's trip to Tottenham.

In a brief statement on their website, Wigan said a statement from chairman Dave Whelan would follow.

Finally clubs are getting back into the old traditional way of going about dispensing of managers, none of that mutual consent BS.

Have to say, I thought Hutchings was going to be first this season, but he had a raltively good start, but since then they have been in freefall.

Wigna to go, with Derby for me this season. Still not certain about the other spot though. Bor look poor, but there are a few other poor teams down there.

Maybe Jol for Wigan?

Just like the No. 79 bus ( sackings :o ) , wait for half an hour and then 2 come at once :D:D .

Unlikely, but wouldn't it be an interesting match if he was hired and in place by Sunday..............:o

:o

It was said in jest, but hey, who knows, anything is possible in football.

I see that Souness is favourite but he also wants the Ireland job !!

This is another one for the "Step up" thread :o

Looking back at the early threads at the start of the season all the Managers we expected to fail have failed,

Sems that if they had bothered to read the Thai Visa threads they would not have had to take such desperate measures a thid of the way through the season with so many points lost.

I would be more than happy to see Souness at Wigan as he is a rubbish manager IMHO.

So who's next?

I don't think Derby will sack Billy Davis, he's last years Addie Boothroyd, a good manager but has limited resources.

Roy Keane, no way

Steve Coppell ditto

Maybee Laurie Sanchez or Steve Bruce?

Place your bets and lets save them some time.

Think Sanchez is next, got to have three proper sackings before Christmas.

He'll be OK if Fulham could play Reading at home every week :D

I think we helped his cause for a stay of execution no end :o

Actually, with further though TP, I should have said Southgate. Although Gibson is historically very patient with his managers, he did get the dreaded confidence vote a week ago, and I really do think that Southgate is out of his depth at this level at present. He may be a good EPL manager in the future, but he would have learnt far more being an assitant manager or coach in the EPL or managing in the lower leagues for a couple of seasons.

The rumour is Paul Jewell is lined up to replace Southgate at Boro. Like you say Toadie, he's out of his depth right now.

I see that Souness is favourite

Apparently the bookies have stopped taking bets on Souness now :o

I'm glad to see there's been no mention of Rafa next to meet the firing squad :D:o .

Next on the chopping block ............... Steve Bruce.

Very possibly B. Robson.

Sheff Utd should not be in the position that they are in now,the team is largely made up of the players from last season.

Granted ,the team ultimately failed to stay up.

Prehaps Mr Warnock was better at his job than people gave him credit for being?

Although the Blades have not lost a Championship match for 4 games,,the performance is very sad.

Believe me, I have listened to them all,,,,and can hear the booing at the end of the last couple.

:o

Next on the chopping block ............... Steve Bruce.

I'd go along with that one :o

The Chinese chap will want a high profile manager in place. Bruce just doesn't fit that in any way shape or form. I just hope they don't try & poach Colin Calderwood :o

Managers must be very nervous when they play Chelsea at home. Sammy Lee lost his job after Bolton played Chelsea, Hutchins went after Wigan played Chelsea and the Valencia manager didn't last long after they played Chelsea. Is David Moyes worried?

I would not think for one minute that David moyes has anything to worry about.

There is talk of Paul Jewell returning to Wigan....would not be the first manager to do an about turn .. Harry (asshol_e) Redknapp did it, so why not, he would do a better job than Souness, in fact ANYBODY would.

You're actually hoping that he is going to poach him.

If he wants high profile I think he should reappoint Barry Fry. :o

Probably not, Rodney. :o

Barry Fry is high profile from the waist out :D

If they try & poach Calderwood then I think we'll have to go for a young up-&-coming boss like err?...Paul Buckle :D

Hands off!!!!!!! :o:D

Another "mutual consent" today Toadie mate, Steve Cotterill at Burnley :o

Sam Allardyce should be next.

He will be, if they keep playing like they are in the first half.

Billy Davies needs to learn to walk on water after tonight's home game with West Ham.

Derby are out of their depth...not the Manager's fault, nor the clubs really.

You know how difficult it is to attract top players to unfashionable clubs,? :D

You have to make the most of what you have...which aint a lot. :o

Derby came up via the play-offs. When was the last time a team who came up that way STAYED up? :D

I can't recall

Another one gone today. Paul Simpson at PNE. Hopefully we'll see him back soon,

Souness is desperate for a job.

That's great for Glasgow Rangers!! !! A certain player called jean alain boumsong if i'm correct :o:D:D
