D-max Air Filters

Featured Replies

With the truck likely to finally make it to the garage this week for the 5k (now 6k) service, what needs to be done about the air filters and any other stuff apart from changing the oil ?

What options do I have - just cleaning it or replacing it ? If so with what ?

Years ago on other cars we changed to K&N but what is the likely impact on this 3.0L turbo (not VGS) ?

Will they change the oil filter ?

I'm in Pattaya and will send it to the Isuzu garage but need to know what to ask for. They will pick the oil I suppose ? Is that a good thing ?

Any help appreciated.

The K&N is pretty cool and will pay for itself in 100K kms or less. Just has to be cleaned and re-oiled. If you can get one for the pickup it's worthwhile. I got mine at the motorshow with a free oli/cleaner kit (500 baht value), for 2700 baht. Gives a bit better breathing as well and haven't seen any problems here given that LoS is quite dusty. When I had a paper filter I used to take it out every few thousand kms and shake out the loose dust, then just get it replaced at the normal interval.

The oil should be adequate from the dealer, but fully synthetic is better (based on my observations on use in two cars). Will cost a bit more though.

What observations are you talking about when talking about the oil ?

Any warranty issues with change of air filter or synthetic oil ?

I found fully synthetic gave me better fuel consumption for highway driving, no real effect on performance though. I used to own a mini and put mobil one in it. That also lubricated the gearbox and it really made a difference to performance. I think synthetic should increas the working life of the engine also.

There are no warranty issues as far as I know, but it's best to check with Isuzu.
