How to Truss "raro"

Introduction

Forums and subs don't happen overnight as evidenced by the Arcade, but rest assured your request is noted.

But just for clarification, one of the suggestions was to sub it here in Bedlam. What say the rest of you?

If TV is getting serious about it, news about gigs etc. should be published in there. Also information exchange about clubs and discos for the dance folks, live music pubs for the R'n'R afficinados etc... Then this should be in the general forum for the general public.

I think general as well. I would love it here in Bedlam but I really don't spend that much time in Gen. So, to keep Bedlam memebers active in the rest of the forum, I say Gen.

I really don't mind where the forum is placed, it will obviously get more input in general, but will cause a greater workload for moderation.

As for the sub forum ideas, I would have thought they would have put it all dance music as other forums always do, would be nice to split into more identifiable genres. However genre is not as important, sharing the love of muisc and ideas are. The gigs and music events is a must as this is where the knowledge builds its foundation for listeners and talents, it opens up people to music ideology.

Go to General and open up a series of new threads. Each one can be opened by a lead for that category eg Raro for Rock Cold Crush for Doof Doof music Robski for weird sh1t I have never heard off. LeungKen for stuff written more than 300 years ago. Another thread could be "concerts and gigs". Places that have live music. Where to get recordings (legit of course - no pirated stuff ).

Get the threads moving with people participating in them and as interest grows they are much more likely to be made into a forum in their own right. There is a lot of work in creating forums and if only 5 of you actively participate then it is hardly worth the effort.

The important thing is to start off fairly small and work your way up - don't create 45 new threads and have 4 posts in each. Pick a couple of genre and work from there.

I do not wish and would never be a moderator in places that can breed people with lack of musical taste and cultural diversity awarness.

You are correct, we certainly could not load up MP3s of songs etc nor would we allow the forum to be used to transfer recordings from one user to another. However if it was to promote a song or band then it would be ok. There are a lot of things that will need to be managed such as linking to "myspace" etc but if it was done in a similar way as we now do with YouTube then it would be ok. I think there will be times when mods or admin will have to make a decision on a site because it is commercial but we have to do that now

One thing would be to not allow links to sites that allow the "free downloading of music" without paying the artist royalties. This comes under the rules of piracy in the same way we don't allow discussion of where to purchase or download pirated movies.

I think a lot of this is going to be 'trial and error" - again I think that it should start of small and see how it goes. There will be problems that need to be resolved but most of the stuff is common sense really. Most of the posters on this forum know what is acceptable and what is not even if they sometimes forget
