Army to crack down on gamblers and casinos

Commander of the third cavalry unit in Chiang Rai Colonel Sompong Jaengjamras (สมพษ์ แจ้งจำรัส) has reported that army personnel in the northern region, especially along the Thai-Myanmar border have been instructed to closely monitor gamblers and casinos in the area. Colonel Sompong states that it has been suspected that money from casinos may be being used in vote-buying and funding figures who are against the upcoming election.

The army also views that influential figures may be targeting gamblers to influence election decisions. The cavalry commander revealed that a recent inspection of people crossing the border uncovered over 200,000 thousand baht worth of alleged gambling winnings which may be used in funding activities converse to the election.

The army will be working with local police and volunteers to monitor the situation.

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

a little bit rich from the boys who disbanded the parliament and threatening with another military coup if the election results won't be in their favour.

boycotting farce elections is everybody's right, unless the military would like to force ussr-style elections where everybody had to vote and vote for the ruling party.

200k is hardly big money in politics and this money actually was leaving thailand across the border to myanmar, so connecting it to the upcoming elections is strange

As the money was winnings wouldn"t it have been coming into Thailand.?.

Ha ha!

What about gambling within Chiang Rai. I see a bunch of school kids on motorcycles visiting one place in Chiang Rai downtown area where they place bets - probably on ballgames. I just wish the parents of these kids knew where their kids money was being spent. Or do they even care?
