AIRPORT TAX EXEMPTION FOR TRANSIT PASSENGERS PROGRAMMES

DATE OF COMMENCEMENT: February 1,2002

PARTICIPANTS: Passengers in transit at Bangkok International Airport who have no less than 12 hours to wait until their connecting flight and who are participating in activities offered by the Working Committee only.

PROCEDURE FOR AIRPORT TAX EXEMPTION REQUEST:

Prior to landing or while in transit at Bangkok International Airport, passengers will be informed of tours open to them via a variety of media. Those interested in joining any of the programmes should follow the procedures below:

1. Passengers should select a tour after first making sure they have sufficent stopover time to participate in the programme they wish to join. Complete time schedules of tours offered by the Association of Thai Travel Agents(ATTA) are provided.

2. Passengers must complete and Airport Tax Exemption request from Available from officials located at either end of the Transit Lounge. Officials will assist with immigration formalities and take passengers to the departure point for their tour.

3. Once the tour is complete, guides will take passengers back to the airport in time for their flights,offering help with immigration matters.

TOURISM ACTIVITIES

The Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) has been assigned by the Working Committee to run tours that last between four and five hours each. All eight of these tours include places in Bangkok and its surrounding areas that are of cultural and historical interest:

1. Temples & Palaces Tour

2. Khlong Thon Buri & Shopping Tour

3. Grand Palace & Shopping Tour

4. Thai Boxing Trip

5. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Bang Pa-in & Shopping Tour

6. Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Centre & Shopping Tour

7. Thai Food & Night Market Tour

8. Thailand Grand Sale Trip

Note: Transit passengers who wish to join the tour must come from visa-exempted countries; of else Visa on Arrival is needed and must be processed before joining the tour. Please also note that, on occasion the number of passengers may affect a tour’s itinerary.
