*fast* Internet Cafe (or Otherwise) In Bkk..?

Featured Replies

hi all... i find myself up in Bangkok staying at a friends pad who has no DSL connection, and all to be found is a fairly pokey wifi connection down in the garage area rife with mosquitoes... today i *really* need to get some data downloaded from some of my works servers overseas and at this rate i am going to never finish.

can anyone recommend an internet cafe (or anywhere for that matter!) that has decently speedy connections? i know that other factors come into play here such as the locale of the servers in question but any little bit helps... would really appreciate any pointers, at this point i wouldn't care if it was 500 baht an hour!

thx in advance friends, connectivity still appears to be my biggest hurdle living over here after these three months but still loving it and fighting tooth and nail not to return to the wastelands of my mother country. cheers all..!

What's your location in Bangkok? I know if you go to Silom (patpong) there are a few places that all have free Wi-Fi, and open 24hr most are fast (as in Thailand fast) connections. If your in that area try Mcdonalds (McCafe), Bugg & Bee, Coffee society or Starbucks.....

Again not knowing exactly where you are in Bkk, one of the fastest connections I've found is the cafe in the Landmark on Suk, WiFi, almost 700k+,

I've stayed (worked) their for hours, buying the occasional coffee or snack, they don't seem to mind, (customers attract customers), just dress appropriately.

Then of course there's Star Bucks across the street, fairly decent bandwidth but you'll have to purchase a card to access,

Good luck,

the TRUE shops, which can be found in almost every shopping mall, have usually a very good and speedy connection (much better than what they offer to their private customers). expensive though, they charge 50 Baht an hour nowadays....
