Oem Outboard Parts / Accessories

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Im gonna be very honest and transparent here. I'm from Malaysia and i was previously working in one of the well known outboard engine center. However, as time passes by i'm now attached with another industry.

The main reason of me posting in this forum is i realise that alot of us who own's an outboard engine have difficulty in getting our parts/accessories from dealers and if there is, the prices are always being marked up sky high. :o

Why should we pay so high for genuine parts when we can have equally good parts or to be precise the exact same parts at half of it's original price. Im not too sure what the market in thailand is fetching for its spare-parts price but over here in Malaysia, OEM parts are selling like hot cakes. Why whould a fisherman fog out 1000++ bhat for a con-rod when OEM only cost him 500++ bhat.

Being said all that, it still very much depending on the individual preference but my honest opinion, genuine parts are as good as OEM.

I am humbly asking you outboard owners out there for a small feedback on the above topic " Genuine parts vs OEM parts".

Hope to hear from you guys soonest.

Cheers,

Allen
