I have had an account with msn hotmail for about 4 years without any problems

about 2 weeks ago they totally revamped their home page plus all the links to hotmail etc

and started calling themselves " windows msn live hotmail" since then i,ve had enormous difficulty

getting to my email [ but it was still possible by trying as many different approaches as possible ]

now however i do not seem able to access hotmail at all i can get the my msn home page[with difficulty]

i can see the new messages in a condensed version of my inbox but when i click these messages or

any other links to hotmail the search goes into a loop ending up nowhere occassionaly a flag appears

saying "safari cannot find/due to lack of data " i,ve tried" help" and" troubleshooting" but it,s the same story

links that were one click away for the past 4 years are now taking me nowhere

i,m having difficulty accepting the fact that as a mac user i,m being shut out but as i am not

particulary computer literate i don,t know what is happening can anyone help?

i,m using a mac osx 10.39 +safari

try going to https://login.live.com/

then sign out and try signing into hotmail again.

I use a mac, this worked for me.

nidge thankyou for your reply i very briefly tried your suggestion but i couldnt

manage to sign out i,ll try more thoroughly later but one of the points i was trying

to make in my post was that things that were working for me a couple of days ago

no longer work everyday it became increasingly difficult to find a route to my emails

now i feel totally blocked out

Don't use Hotmail at all, signup for Gmail and set Hptmail for to forward all incoming messages to the new account! Hotmail is Bulls**t!

Agreed, the new Live thing has got my pages scrambling and appearing blank, it takes 3 or 4+ tries to get the page to display properly most of the time.

What really gets me though, is that if you have an account that you don't sign into for a while (1 month?), they DELETE EVERYTHING (emails) that was there! !

So much for any old passwords, activation keys, etc. I might need in an account that I seldom use. Oh that happened to me today and it is extremely frustrating, don't you know.

Hi hotmail sufferar,

There is one r e a l l y good free email account and that is www.gmail.com. You get 5.5GB space! And it has soooo many features hotmail doesn't have and is lightning fast!

I have currently 24,716 emails stored on my account (yes, over 24,000 emails!), many containing lots of pictures and I'm still using only 20% of the space. I have an online business.

Does that open your eyes?

GO FOR GMAIL!

If you have trouble getting a free acccount (you need an invitation from an existing account owner) than just PM me, please.

Invitations no longer required, just fill in the application form and you have an account.

Yes I know I have a gmail account already.

Just sorting out opening another one, which accounts to forward to which, etc.

Wish gmail had folders though, I am used to that.

Of course I understand it can be used just like OE as well.

Thanks for the input!

I use hotmail at a minimal level, just to maintain an alternate account - and I like how I still have a 4 digit password.

However, lately I have not been able to access hotmail on my computer (which has a very slow connection via CDMA wireless). When typing in hotmail.com - produces so many re-directs (bouncing from one URL to another) that it's become non-functional for me. I've got the blasted 'cookies' turned on.

When I type hotmail.com and look at the lower left corner of my browser (Mozilla) - I see multiple re-directs to various URL's (between 4 and 24, it's hard to count 'em - a lot of redundancies).

Also tried hotmail.msn.com - same problem.

I had the same trouble, seems they have become ''Windows live hotmail'' do a Google, you still keep your hotmail address, its works ok now ,but before it would not load, maybe one of the experts can be more precise and tell you how.

i found out how to do it.....

hotmail.com didn't work

hotmail.msn.com didn't work

msn.com worked, then in the upper left corner, I clicked on the work hotmail - and got to my account without even having to log in manually - that's never happened before.

Brahmburger's commentary. I'll coin it 'Brahmburger's Razor #3" (I have two earlier 'razors' to my credit):

"The more popular a web site becomes, the more difficult it becomes to get things done on it."

Also applies to popular Thai web sites: Thai webmasters quickly become aware of the many whistles and bells available, so (surprise!) they want to incorporate every jingle jangly thing possible - so they quickly get a way-too-busy site that's slow to load and confusing. Same with uploading every software known to man and beast - and showing all the icons on their monitor - so the monitor screen winds up having hundreds of icons. I guess if I were 9 years old in today's world, I'd do the same.

You could have probably resolved your hotmail issue in two minutes instead of two days just by typing "hotmail" into the search window. If you had, you would have found this thread from "nidge," posted back on December 4th.

There are no less than 5 (very recent) threads from people with the same hotmail issue. Please, do yourselves a favor and do a search of the forum before asking for assistance.

Hello.

Once again Microsoft is not able to get their act together - i am using Windows Live Mail (latest version, not the beta anymore) to get e-mail from now three accounts (two Hotmail, one Live) and again, since three days, i am unable to download any mail from either "inbox" to Windows Live Mail. It shows the headers/subjects so i know that there's mail there, but the body doesn't download.

SPAM, outbox, drafts and deleted items are synchronized just fine! It's, like last time, only the inboxes that don't go. This is the error message i get:

"Windows Live Mail could not download the requested message. To send and receive messages in your Hotmail account, go to http://hotmail.live.com on the Web, or try again later. To get help from Windows Live Customer Support, go to http://support.live.com and click Windows Live Mail in the list of services.

Subject '(subject of the mail)'

Server Error: 0x8000FFFF

Server: 'http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8000FFFF"

And, same as last time, there is no problem whatsoever getting the mails from the same accounts using Outlook XP or the web service - all three accounts are perfectly fine, it's just the sync server on M$'s site. I have already tried with the "configure servers manually" and "my server is a http server" options but it doesn't work (was suggested on the Live Mail blog).

Does anyone else here use Live Mail with Hotmail accounts and has the same problems recently? Any solution?

With kind regards....

I bet you're using TRUE Internet, it's their bloody fault! Every once in a while it does this (most recently for most of the day yesterday, fine now), along with some other weird <deleted> like breaking Rapidshare.com downloads. I wish I knew a solution, but waiting it out seems to be the only thing that works.

Hi :o

But if it's TRUE's fault (yes i use them), how come it does work in Outlook? And access to any of the accounts thru the normal web browser is fine too. I believe it must be on Microsoft's side.............

Best regards.....

Beats me, I guess the Windows Live Mail client must be sending some type of HTTP request that conflicts with an occasional TRUE glitch/server setting, because other clients and Hotmail web access have no problem.

And for me when this occurs it is always in conjunction with a nasty glitch with Rapidshare.com, i.e. downloading 645b files until several retries finally manage to get the correct file size. I think it may be a bug in some specific router firmware that TRUE uses, because at the office (Asoke area) the problem was there to stay, whereas at home (Rama 4 area) it comes and goes. A friend in the Sathorn area has also had this problem for ages now...meanwhile, in KSC-based Internet in Assumption University, I've never had such a problem, nor have I heard anyone not on TRUE complaining about it.

I guess we should contact TRUE, though I doubt they can do anything about fixing such particular glitches :o
