Anyone Tried Those Septic Tank Systems That Convert To Clean Water?

Why not try an experiment. Take two white 15 litre plastic paint buckets with lids and fill them almost full with poop. In one put a dose of EM (about 1/100th of the amount you would put in your poop tank since you're treating 15 litres instead of 1,500 litres) and seal them both up. Come back a month later and smell the difference. Let me know.

I'm just not that committed to a resolution of my problem. Thanks anyway. :o

Actually, aren't the 'nice' bacteria (that are supposedly in the EM) aerobic and thus require an air supply that would be absent in your paint buckets?

no air supply = no work. as simple as that.

There is no air supply in a septic tank....conditions there are anaerobic I think.

Yep, further investigation shows you are correct :D

I'm still not going poop-sniffing :o

There are aerobic systems, they need an air pump but work faster and produce cleaner output effluent.

I'd really like to try the green plants and pond solution, shame lingling seems to have fallen off the face of the earth (see the 'water lettuce' thread).

SBK or anyone do you know the name of these systems in Thai? We tried to explain to the guy scoping out our project for us and he looked at us blankly. He only knew the standard concrete ring system or the town sewer system which we can't connect to because our land is too remote.

You mean does anybody know the name for "septic tank system" in Thai??

If he is looking at you blankly then I guess it won't help. I would suggest taking him along to your local Homepro, Global House or whatever. Most building supplies places have them. Round, black, usually dimpled (I don't know why).

It is possible to build a system, but with your developer that seems to be a non starter..........

Sometimes they have a cross-sectioned model that shows the interior. Somebody there should be able to explain how they work. Or maybe not :o
