Where To Buy Ski Wear In Bangkok?

Recommended Posts

I have tried google for quite a while now without luck.

Is there any Ski / Snowboard shop in Bangkok selling ski wear like jackets, pants, proper ski-underwear, hats, gloves, fleece jackets, sunglasses for skiing, cross country skiing gear, etc ..?

I have a bit of a problem flying from 32 degrees to -17 degrees without any clothes for these temperatures unless I find a shop in Bangkok. In tow a Thai who hasn't even seen snow before also without warm clothes. We arrive on a Sunday morning in the Alps, so shops will be closed, too.

The ski resort there might also have very limited stock in their little shop even when they open on Monday and we lost the entire Sunday hiding in the room missing the Christmas market, which would be very sad, seriously.

I am in a similar dilemma as I am off to Russia for a work assignment, particularly looking for thermal underwear.

Good jackets (North Face etc) can be found at MBK, 5th floor, soi 6, the stall is called something similar to F. Shop. The jackets are probably factory rejects but looked pretty good to me at B2,500. At a North Face shop they go for B15,000 - 17,000.

These are also available on ground floor of J City on Silom next to BTS

Thermals are probably available in Pratunam but gotta go searching.

If you find thermal underwear please let us know :o

MBK, 3rd floor, should have plenty of winter wear available, in a section at the top of the escalators. Failing that, I'd try Pratunam Center.

Will check it out tomorrow and advise, surely in Pratunam but how much walking will be needed? LOL

Ummm... don't forget the Counterpain. And take heart in the fact that there are more than a few foot massage places in that area :o

You can rent (and buy) the latest winter clothes like jackets, trousers and all the rest in most winter sport villages in the Alps.

In the high -winter- season the shops don't close....they've had bad seasons the past few years and won't close when they can make money...especially the Swiss and Austrians :o

Went to Platinum today as I was going tp Pantip anyway. Found two shops right off the bat that carried jackets (B2,000-3,000), long underwear (B250), gloves (B250)and some hats and scarves. Prices are approx.

1. Cool,2nd floor,Soi Oxford 6, room 473 (3% added when using credit card

2. Phing Phing 2nd floor, Soi Oxford 5, room 404 (Credit Card ok when buying over B3,000)

Probably plenty more but others would probably have the same stuff at same prices and I hate shopping

These Soi Oxfords, I presume, are in Platinum (never been myself)?

B250 for long underwear sounds almost too good to be true - definitely worth a look.

Thanks for the report!

i have a columbia titanium that i bought in canada. its a $400++ jacket there. it is made in thailand and i have sen them here - at mbk and platinum for much less - but be careful

the ones i have seen are not made from gortex - they are copies and the material is not even mvp (moisture vapour permeable, which is what gortex is) so if you are going into true winter conditions those jackets will not perform like you want them to

this was a year ago when i was buying for my gf to take her back for a visit to cda, so we did not but here waited and bought in cda. i did not look at every shop and i am sure there are originals available but beware of cheap knock offs, make the slopes real miserable

have fun

Yes, I have to say I did not find anything today that would be suitable to wear in true wintersport conditions. Long underwear for skiing is a special material and I could not find that, jackets and gloves were low quality or low quality fakes that would never be warm enough in -17 degrees celsius and snow. No real ski pants or jackets anywhere or good quality fleece jumpers, hats and real skiiing gloves. Will have to buy things there that really work. Some things they sell here might just work when walking in 0 degrees for a short while, but not for wintersports.
