Crouch angered by Mikel conduct

Liverpool's Peter Crouch has accused foreign stars of play-acting in the wake of his sending off for a horror tackle on Chelsea's Jon Mikel Obi.

The England striker was dismissed for a two-footed lunge in the Carling Cup quarter-final defeat at Stamford Bridge, but claimed Mikel overreacted.

He said: "Foreign players have brought a lot to our game, but that's something you don't want to see.

"I didn't catch Mikel but he has gone down like he's been shot."

Crouch added: "What I'm thinking is if you go in on Frank Lampard or John Terry would they roll around like Obi Mikel did? I don't think they would have done.

"Would someone like Jamie Carragher have gone down like that? I think it's safe to say that he wouldn't."

Even though I never though he deserved a place in Liverpool or the national team, I have to say I am 100% agree.

He's right, but he should take off his rose tinted glasses & check out the antics of Gerrard in & around the penalty area.

Everybody dives...it also doesn't help that most refs are absolutely retarded, just look at their faces in a match, they look like the dumbest kids in schools.

Very good referees (like Collina) are few and far between, I say go for video replay technology like in the US, too many people lose money because of the more or less intentional errors refs make.

Fully agree, Gerrard is certainly one of the standouts in the department of gamesmanship. :o

Thats true.

Unfortunately he is one of a handfull players that rush towards the referee ass soon as he is involved in an incident. Even when he has clipped someone he rushes towards the ref, shouting at him in order to make the ref not give a freekick against him.

One of the worst in this category is Mr. Terry. In his own oppinion he has never done anything wrong on the pitch.

I think maybe some videos should be looked at later on to punish the cheaters. But this should be a punishment for that particular player later on, not during the game, as this will interupt the game even more as we already experience.

Your'e right.Every player will dive to get an advantage and it doesn't help that we've got a group of referees that wouldn't look out of place at a scouts jamboree and are too chummy with the players.It also doesn't help that our astute,all knowing,footballing T.V. brains trust,after analysing a video clip a dozen times,proclaim that the referee WAS wrong and should have;

1.Booked him for diving OR

2.Sent him off for diving OR

3.Given a free kick because he WAS clipped ...etc.

What makes me laugh is that when someone dives, all the players surround the referee screaming and shouting. Why don't they surround the diver instead and kick the <deleted> out of him for bringing the game into disrepute?Because they know they would do exactly the same thing in the same situation.THEY cheat, the managers condone it but the referee gets the flak.
