Top 10 Gadgets 2007 by Time Magazine

1. Apple iPhone

The iPhone changed the way we think about how mobile media devices should look, feel and perform. The design is exceptional inside and out: It's got a slick glass-and-stainless steel case and an elegant touch screen loaded with eye candy. It's an iPod and a 2-megapixel camera. Images and video clips display vertically or horizontally — they reorient themselves depending on how you hold the thing. When the phone detects a wireless network within range — your own home wi-fi set up or somebody else's — it lets you tap once to connect, and then proceed with your Web surfing, Google mapping, emailing and other activities that can otherwise be painfully slow over AT&T's cellular network — the only one, unfortunately, that carries iPhone calls.

How did that get in there? I hate that RC dragonfly. I'm a Picooz man myself. Or should I say Picooz boy?

Looks like 2007 was a total yawner with the "Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive" on #9. I mean... <deleted>? A portable hard drive?

#4 - 7 are also nothing special... that is, nothing that others weren't doing too, or doing better. A small laptop, woo hoo. A wannabe-iPod touch, surely almost as good (but we can't have two apple products in the top 10). Another lame palm phone, with according Time its low price the most outstanding feature. And yet another Sony product that would be great if it didn't use MemoryStick...

The Nikon Wifi camera - aren't there a lot of cameras that support WiFi already?

I can't shake the feeling that a certain amount of advertising in Time or with affiliates would secure a spot on that list...

The Eee PC is a rather strange omission, maybe they're saving it up for next year...

a nikon coolpix camera? samsung c2 and sony handycam? truly a taste for the american market. try doing an asian top 10 gadgets for the year and there you would see the deserved list.

i'd rather check out CNET asia pacific than any other regional CNET in the world!
