Good And Bad Things About Khet Taling Chan

Well, after years of reading the ThaiVisa Forum I finally decided to register so I could contribute and hopefully get & give some advice on subjects. Would appreicate any feedback you have regarding living in TalingChan.

The wife (Thai) and I are buying a home in Khet TalingChan, which is on the western side of Bangkok. We made the downpayment for a new home a few months ago and make final payment on the house in January. Our research to date and visits to TalingChan have all been positive so far. However, I would appreciate any feedback about the good and bad things about TalingChan that any of you fine folks might like to offer. Thanks. :o

good choice - generally a lot of greenery so the air is cool, much less polluted than in the other, more busy parts of bangkok. Still only 5 - 10 minutes to the major tourist attractions around the Old Town in Rattanakosin and to the chao phraya river. The 2 expressways (borommoratchachonnani and western outer ring road take you to and from the town easily). With the new bridge around samut prakan takes 35 minutes to the new airport and so far no toll. Within the next 3 years there should be an overground rail link to the city as well as a new motorway running along the rail tracks to Bang Su.

there are a lot of canals which might overflow at the end of the rainy season, as it happened a year ago when hundreds of homes were flooded.

myself I did build a small house here and bought a small plot of land close to the railway as a long term investment - within the next few years, after the rail link opening, this area will become more trendy

Thanks for the great feedback. While a person can Google themselves to death looking for info on a subject, you just can't beat "been there, done that" type of feedback. Couldn't agree more about the greenery, espcially in the development/area where I bought. I do have a canal about 50 ft behind my house which small boats go and up and down occassionally, but my house's foundation is built several feet above the top of the canal and the company selling the homes said the canal has never overflowed...and my talks to a few people who live in my development seem to confirm this. Plus, I didn't see any signs of recent flooding in the area.

Thanks again....and thanks in advance to any others who may have some feedback on the TalingChan area. Happy Holidays.

I am close to Rama 9 bridge and new mega bridge, nice area but Suksawad is a bad road, green buses and motorcycles are insane, but 10 minutes away is the countryside in Phra Phra Dang, very nice
