Firefox 'manage Bookmarks' Gone

Featured Replies

I am running Firefox 3.0b2 and have had no problems with it. In particular the memory leaks of the previous version seemed to have been fixed.

But today I went to reorganise my bookmarks and the 'Manage Bookmarks' tab that's supposed to be there when you click on Bookmarks on the top of the page isn't there at all.

When I do click on the 'Bookmarks' tab it shows Bookmark this Page, Subscribe to this Page, Bookmark All Tabs, Show All Bookmarks. Then comes my bookmarks themselves.

Has anybody any idea how I've lost the Manage Bookmarks facility? And more importantly how I get it back. Please?

Thanks.

Do you mean Organise Bookmarks?

It should be 4th on the list.

I suggest you backup all your book marks.

Look for a file like c:\Documents and Settings\astral\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\r73ihpy4.default\bookmarks.htm

and make a copy.

The reinstall FireFox and import the old bookmarks from the copy.

I have a little .BAT file that archives the bookmarks every time I start up.

Del e:\backup\bookmarks.old

ren e:\backup\bookmarks.html bookmarks.old

copy "c:\Documents and Settings\astral\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\r73ihpy4.default\bookmarks.html", e:\backup\bookmarks.html

Heh, heh! I copy the entire Mozilla folder in Program Files AND in Application Data to an external drive! Just to be on the safe side... :o

I wonder if the OP means the Bookmark Manager icon on the toolbar?

In which case, right click on the toolbar, click Customise... and drag the Bookmark Manager icon onto the toolbar.

Get yourself and email account at Google. You'll then be able to install Googlesync into Firefox and your bookmarks will be backed up (any synchronised if you have more than one PC) every time you use FF.

I'd be intersted where to get the 3.0 version of FF...I run 2.0.0.11 and just made a check for updates...none available. The memory management of FF is indeed not exactly perfect...

Endure...please tell me more about that googlesync. I run several comps and the bookmark management is something I always wanted to improve....thanks!

On the Firefox Website's you can get the Beta 2 HERE

Cheers.

installed already and bingo! ....some of the add-ons don't work anymore - especially the syncing with google that was mentioned above. Will keep the 2.0 version on the laptop for the time being.... :o

  • 1 month later...

just installed that Firefox Bookmark Sync add-on. Now it asks me to enter an FTP/WebDAV server address....no clue what to type here....any idea?
