Noticed there's a distinct lack of monochrome submissions!

Hopefully we'll start to see a few coming in.

EOS 5D - 28-80 L at 42mm setting- 100 ASA - 1/800th at f5.6. Shot in monochrome, red filter dialed in and polariser added.

Korat Centre Oct 2007

The detail against the inky black is superb.

Seems I'm in the minority with my liking of monochrome! :o

I like black and white too, made many shots with Plus X and Tri X (do they still exist?). I've spent 5 semesters worth of darkroom hours in both high school and college all for monochrome prints.

Which could only be achieved with red filter and polarizer... and another red filter on enlarger... that's when I was into black and white photography with Plus/Tri X.

Both are still around. I've even seen Tri-X in Chiang Mai.

Personally I always preferred Ilford FP4 in ID11 - rated it at 100 asa and developed accordingly. Absolutely beautiful tones and grain free.

You guys take me back to my youth with mention of FP4, Plus-X and Tri-X.

No automatic cameras in those days.................

For any analog users I bought some Chinese ERA 4x5 black and white to test. As soon as I get the chemistry I'll let everyone know how it worked out. Its much cheaper than Kodak. You can direct import at reasonable prices too. I'll be testing Chinese Lucky Brand film in color in the near future too.
