It depends on various factors such as nationality, age, your purpose of visitig Thailand, whether married to a Thai, studying, working, etc.

This limits you to torist visas and visa-exempt entries.

The best you can hope for is a double-enty tourist visa in Vientiane, as some posters reported getting there, but no guarantee. Other Thai consulates in the region issue single-entry tourist visas only, or refuse a visa altogether it they see that the applicant has been in Thailand as a tourist for a long time already.

Don't forget that you can extend your visa at an immigration office in Thailand for an additional 30 days.

Except at the Kanchanaburi office where I understand from a few local farangs that they are now only giving 7days. They used to give 30 days like all the other offices so I don't understand why they alone have recently "moved the goal posts". I'm only glad that I get yearly extentions!!!

I have not seen any such report for a tourist who's stay here appears to be temporary or if the tourist has a ticket out of Thailand. 7 days are occasionally being given to those who can not show that they intended to leave at the end of 30 days however. That is not just happening in Kanchanaburi.
