*** Tv Series *** Lost ***

Featured Replies

I have just completed watching the three entire seasons of 'Lost' and now await the start of season 4. I am sure there are some TV members who have watched some or all of the episodes which total 60+.

Season 3 answered a lot of questions; and I am now beginning to think that this might be a living hel_l or purgatory or something like that, or else maybe some kind of time-travel experiment where you can alter the future.

The 'flash-forwards' in Season 3 in the final episode were particularly disturbing.

What are your views. Any brain-waves as to what is actually going on?

I think it is about an assasination plot on the president... Dubya.

I've never seen it.

Is it like "The Littlest Hobo". That dog was lost, i'm sure :o

LOL so was Boomer in "Here's Boomer" the spin off show about the dog from the rhgtitle1.jpg :o

As I've only watched parts of a couple of episodes, I'd say it's about selling commercials to sponsors for the network to make money. I've never found it compelling or even interesting enough to spend much time on it.

I much prefer "The Shield" or "24"

I watched the first two series in one nearly continuous sitting.

And quiet enjoyed it.

The third series, I watched on weekly downloads (ie: the night they aired in the states somebody would kindly upload them for us).

I feel they (the show started to take the p1ss with regards to continuously creating MORE questions, and frankly, following a "behind the scenes" thing I watched, I don't think the writers of the show have a clue and ARE in fact just taking the piss; They've a muti-million budget, get to hang out in hawaii... Heck, I'd probably do the same.

Maybe due to lack of a life outside the "norm" - But that'd be a whole other topic - Audiences, broadly speaking, are gullible enough to keep getting intrigued. And keep buying those silly little box-sets.

And so the writers haven't a clue what the show is heading toward and hence, to answer you: How could we?

So it could be about a lost Doggy after all :o

The end could be about The Littlest Hobo, finding a place to settle down with a Chouwawah (sp) who is a retired Astronaut, although not on the same salary as a human astronaut. So the pension isn't as good but it's enough for 2 dogs to live happy ever after on. :D

you having Fun, Jangles? :D:o

oooooooooooooooooooooooooh ^ That smilie reminds me... Have to go to work... :

you having Fun, Jangles? :D:o

:D

Boredom buddy. But whilst they are paying me :D

Nice one bj!

I agree. I do worry about this. Perhaps I am being taken for a mug, and being sucked in (and in Pattaya sucked ***) of this commercial TV series. I tried '24'and I did not like it. But with LOST being only six series long I am very interested in it. O.K. if I have been swindled then it has been good entertainment value.

Any more positive feedback?

I got really lost when ... jack got lost and the japanese guy could fly - oh sorry that was heroes...

He seems so gay, and that dialouge " whats that there " Has three facial expressions with one being a smirk, his best. He speaks the same in every scene, no rising or falling of tone or volume. If he taught in a school, I would've fallen asleep from boredom.

Well I had to sort of skip through this thread because I didn't want to spoil the plot past season one. The reason? Like so many other shows (the Battlestar Galactica remake, The 4400, Odyssey 5, etc) Foxtel (Au) buys season one and then repeats that season ad infinitum. When screening in Th, I have avoided the later series because I have missed the earlier season's episodes and I have anticipated seeing theose seasons run in Au. It hasn't happened yet, but I suppose it will ultimately.

It may initially seem surprising that Foxtel treats its viewers so poorly, but I suspect it is about saving money for two reasons:

- News Ltd is not a full owner of Foxtel and other major shareholders would have fixed bugets for programming acquisitions.

- As is the usual case in business, News Ltd's sibsidiaries are set up as strategic business units (all competing on a profit basis and an eye to the bottom line when purchasing product from other SBUs). Therefore, a healthier margin means minimal expenditure on new series.

This would seem to be a valuable lesson in the danger of monopolies (and Foxtel has the monopoly here in Au); high prices/low care for the customers. If only there were a viable alternative, I am sure things would be quite different. If this were TLW thread, 'Peeved' would come to mind...

ever heard of "downloading", Ping?

Oh Wait! No! I heard somewhere (on here) that in OZ you get charged per your internet traffic usage? Is that right?

Used to be with the dial-ups. AFAIK, all broadband plans give you a monthly d/l allowance and then either charge per mb thereafter or step down your d/l speed until the next period. Mine is the latter (down to 64k) if I exceed 15gb d/l, but I have never gone anywhere near it. (Pity my d/l speed is REALLY 300 baud, if you check my profile :o )

You cannot be serious!! He is such a hero!!! And Raybans made a load a money out of him!! I am being sarcastic... I agree he does seem a bit odd. I'm getting into Ugly Betty at the moment, and CSI Las Vegas, Dr House, Men in Trees, ER, Medium, Eastenders etc. etc. etc. I'm a couch potatoe.

Ping: Odyssey 5 was only one season, 20 episodes. With Lost I watched seasons 1 & 2 and enjoyed them. Started season 3, but within a few episodes it started to annoy, as others have said, I'm not at all convinced that the 'arc' is in place. May give it another try though.

However, with the record breaking opening of Cloverfield, {great movie by the by} I wonder if JJ Abrams will get pulled away from Lost more and more.

Regards

PS Sorry Kayo if you're still in the UK you have to wait till February for the movie, so no spoilers.

Ah, thanks for that AT. Following your advice, I just loooked it up in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odyssey_5 and I believe that the final 6 episodes (as mentioned in Wiki) have yet to air in Oz. It wasn't that great a series - seemed to lose focus - but the initial plot was good. So I will await the remaining episodes.

Yes it certainly petered off as the series proceeded - some rather banal focus on 'synthetics' (plastic people, for gawd's sake - there are plenty of those around already :o) - but I may as well see it through to its conclusion since I've already watched more than half the series. More interested in getting on to the post-series one episodes of Lost...

There's a thread on this movie in "Pub" . Mixed reviews by those who have seen it. :o

Now there's an interesting thing... I mentioned at post 16 about checking my profile and I went and had a quick look myself. I notice that a large proprotion of people who have looked at my profile are relatively new members (obviously prompted to look after reading something I said in Phuket, General or elsewhere). Does that mean that they can then trawl through my Bedlam posts? Or can they click on 'Find Member's Posts' and get my Bedlam ones as well? Not that I am particulalrly perturbed, but it seems to be a backdoor, of sorts, to the forum. (Presumably they cannot then click on the post in my profile and gain access to the whole thread.)

It's likely that if you have recently started posting somewhere else people there are checking you out using their "sleeper" niks. I get some strange people checking my profile from time to time.

As far as I know Bedlam posts and threads don't show in your profile to those without 500 posts up. :o

Thanks OC - the plot thickens...

That is correct, you can be a muppet or a sage in here, and no one with less than 500 post will be any wiser.

Until they reach 500 posts, that is :D

I agree that season 3 of 'Lost' was a slow starter but 'A_Traveller' it is worth persevering because after the first five or six episodes, it becomes a roller-coaster ride. Season 3 as a whole is the best season of 'Lost' so far.

Season 4 has begun in the USA but I am avoiding checking out what is happening, and will wait for the DVD later this year.
