2.5" 320gig Hard Drive

Featured Replies

I am in the market for a new external hard drive and I noticed yesterday that western digital had a 320gig 2.5" drive available

http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=377

they were about 7300 baht

has anyone had any experience with them ? and any recommendations for a rugged and cool external case for a 2.5" drive ?

i was just in malaysia and saw many many new hdd with enclosures selling below 3k. i would recommend giving it another 6 months before you buy a new external HDD. prices are gonna come down i reckon for the thai market.

good reviews for the drive itself

now I just need a decent housing

Take a look for the Philips Housing. I use one for SATA 2.5" and it didn't need a doubble connection for to get enough power.

Even the design is nice and you can get them in diffrent colors. Cost about THB 500.00 at Fortune Town IT Mall.

Cheers.

Yes, I just used one of these for a friend and it worked fine on a single USB, but we also made sure to get a .5 amp drive too. I don't think it's really made by Philips though, do you?

I have one too. Mine is made in the Netherlands. Hand-assembled by dutch virgins. I swear!

Good box though :o

Where in Thailand are you buying the drive? I was going to get one but my old one died before the 320GB version came out, so I had to make do with a paltry 250. HardwareHouse where I bought it already had the WD 320GB drive in their price lists though so I figured they'd start selling it soon...

yes - Hardware House

I have seen them at both Zeer and IT square , so pantip would have them also

Be careful putting WD passport drives in Macs because the antishock firmware is suppose to clash with machine's own version.
