Italian tourist, 63 years old Mr. Josef Bonell notified the Pattaya Police on 12th January

that money he had placed in his hotel’s guest safe had gone missing.

He stated that he checked into the Simon Place Hotel on Second Road on the 7th January

and deposited 1,000 Euros into their safe at lunchtime on the 11th January. In the morning

of the 12th, he went to take out some money to buy some items and discovered that 300

Euros was missing. Police are investigating further with members of staff and have a lead

as to who possibly took the money from the safe.

Nice people don't want to holiday in a place where their rooms are being broken into

and they can't trust the hotel safe to secure thier belongings. We constantly hear about

Thailand wanting to attract quality tourists but all the evidence suggests otherwise.

I wonder if he changed the combination on the safe?

If he did, them the hotel will be needing some new staff. (Or the manager will be riding a new bike )

Didn't he know that hotels check their guests' safes everyday and rob a select few depending upon how much the occupant was drinking the day before ?

The difficulty here is he says he deposited 1,000 Euros. Bet the hotel will say no, he put 700 Euros in the safe!
