Looking For A Used Motorbike Up To 12000 Baht

Hey Flip, did you get any responses for a bike at your specification/budget ??

Seems to me that expecting a 4 year old, low kilo bike for 12,000 baht would be unlikely. From my experience prices would be more like at least 20,000 Baht for an older model Honda Wave or Dream 110cc.

really?

depends where you shop for then though doesnt it.............

For instance have seen 3 - 4 yr old waves at 13000 and bought a mint 4 yrs old sonic for 16500

so where you can find for this price range?

I suspect Farangs selling up quick and shipping out. I doubt you will get Thais selling at bargain prices. My wife just sold an 8 year old 110cc Wave with a lot of Km on the clock for 15,000 baht ... to another Thai.

well both the wave and the sonic were bought from thai garages

have bought three old honda dreams all with elec start and green books for 6k or under - from thais

guess some people just get humped and some get bargains :o

Phuket Town is normally cheapest I have found although others may have their favourite "hunting" grounds for bargains

One of the easiest to find that has a decent selection is at the "Amway" interchange in Phuket town. On the road from chalong as you are approaching the main intersection that has the esso (?) garage on the right hand side and the Amway store if you look to the left you will see normally about 20 bikes lined up.

DO NOT speak to the girl / guy that sits by the bikes looking bored - they will 100% try and stuff it up you price wise. If you look at 10 meters to the right of this you will see a selection of cars all under cover. Go past these to the offices at the back and deal with the staff in there. Very helpful right down to organising the green book transfers etc

:D I am heading to AMWAY area right now to look for a Honda Dream electric start. Do you know of any other hunting areas like this in Phuket City? Each time I rent a bike I am loosing money and after 2 years of renting, I could have bought 5 Honda Dreams for what I have spent :o

Well, I guess we have been 'humped' with every 2nd hand bike we have bought over the years. Last bike I bought was a Wave 125 about 2 years old, and the farang owner would not go under 34,000 baht. That model's new cost back then was 47,000 baht. I bought it and then noticed the inside of the fuel tank was rusty. Obviously a tsunami 'special' ... :o Had the bike stripped and chasis blasted, primer & painted. Wheels spokes went rusty so fitted nice alloys. At least the engine & brakes been Ok.... so far. Buyer BEWARE... :D

Otherwise, buy wife's 5 year old JRD 125 cc scooter, 8,000 km, for 20,000 Baht. VERY low mileage.

Back on topic. You can find deals everywhere, but have tilac ask for pricing, not a white skin monkey. grin

JRD !!! oh no. Bought a snazzy looking Surf Z brand new for only 32,000 baht. Worst ever buy. Back for repairs countless times. Struggled on for 2 years and just last month gave it away free to the wife's family. I was so happy to wave it away in the back of pick-up on way to Surat..... :o

Thats why they had a 2 for one deal at 40k recently brand new.. I have buddies with them and constantly broken (charging systems).. I nearly had one cheap, quite a comfy ride on the flat (nice wide tyres) but barely able to get up a hill with me on it (I am >100 kg tho).. Shame as I really like the styling of the quest 125.

Looking for a used Honda Dream/Wave or Yamaha/Suzuki motorbike in a good condition.

(not more than 4 years old and "low" mileage.)

Willing to pay up to 12000 Baht.

Hi,

Found the Honda Dream you was looking for!... One careful owner from new. Still has all the original parts, even the same tyres. The owner said it has low mileage, because a year after buying it the clock stopped.

The owner said he will except 12,000 Baht and will throw in a free crash helmet and the original Honda Dream Jacket. A free pair of flip flops with extra rubber on the soles for rapid stopping. Plus a free can of paint with a choice of colours and a free paint brush. He said no need for oil changes just top it up every week.

Sounds like a bargain to me.

PM me for more details.

So ya can get one for around 12.000 THB. I like the look of some bikes with a side car on them. Do they handle well?

They handle great but you have to drive very slowly with no lights, the family in the sidecar and into the oncoming traffic, don't forget now :o
