Thanks to info from here, we managed to get a UK visitor visa for my girlfriend without any problem.

She is coming for 10 days in March and we are meeting in London for a few days before heading to my city for the remainder of the stay. I've known her for a few years and I lived in Bangkok for a couple of those.

She's never been out of asia before, so how will she find things like the cold March weather in England? Food and water? In the UK I will be with her the whole time, but I'm a bit worried because I just want her to have a nice trip here, but also don't want to overwhelm her by trying to make her do too much that she isn't comfortable with.

Just wondered if anyone else had any experiences of a thai's first visit to Farangland, that might help me out a bit.

Cheers

Congratulations and good luck. I remember my wife coming here for a holiday for the first time - she seemed completely unimpressed with everything and I've heard others say the same on this forum. That could bring you down a little if you're getting excited on her behalf.

My wife enjoyed standing next to the Queen's guards and seeing the acts in Covent Garden. She's been here 2 years now and still won't drink tap water so keep that in mind.

Check your area for a Thai restaurant or three.  After a few days in the U.S. on my wife's first trip, she really needed some hot stuff and rice!  Even stopped by a Thai run (Lao & Filippinos also have such) Asian grocery store to buy some odds & ends to keep a the house for her to liven up her farang food.

Good suggestion. Do not underestimate the importance of food (spicy) to the Thai's.
