Websites That Won't Fit Screen

Featured Replies

Over the last few months I've noticed that there are a few websites where I can't see the whole page. Usually there may be script on the left, but I can only scroll so far, and this information gets chopped off, so I can't read it. Yesterday I went to a Yahoo site, and there was some important information at the bottom of the page and yet, I couldn't scroll up or down.

I'm using Firefox and Windows 2000 Pro, with an old 17 inch CRT monitor. Are there any settings I can change on my computer in order to see the full page of these websites?

change your secreen to a better resolution therefore making the text and stuff smaller..that should work if that is the case otherwise view in full screen??

No, that didn't work. I changed from 800 x 600 pixels to 1024 x 768. It just made the text smaller and the screen smaller. The site I'm trying to access has a separate screen panel where my only options are to move or minimize. No way to scroll to see the bottom of the screen.

what is the site?

It's the chess site at yahoo in the games section. I've just found their message board over there, so I've fired off a similar question to them. Maybe they'll come up with an answer, because I'm stumped. Thanks for trying.

I don't have a scroll wheel on my mouse, if that's what you're referring to?

Looks like I'll have to upgrade to a new mouse if I want to use the site. Thanks for confirming.

I haven't shopped for a mouse in years, and I'm cheap, so you don't have to figure out which one I'll be going for. Next time I'm in Wal-mart I'll take a look around the computer section to see what they have. Thanks for the update on the pricing.

Hey, Wal-Mart isn't in Thailand but I know the Thailand prices only. :o

Cheers.

If your keyboard numberpad has +/- you can use them with the Ctrl key to adjust the size.

You're absolutely right. It works exactly the way you said. The other thing I hadn't realized was that the toolbar I had at the bottom of my screen was also blocking my sight. Once I'd figured out how to move this toolbar further down, I was now at least able to see to bottom row of the chess board, which I couldn't before.

Many thanks to all of you for your tips and suggestions on how to resolve this. I learned a few things in the process.
