Hi all

Im looking for a place to stay in Hua Hin this coming March for a few nights that is walking distance to beach and bars that is around 500bt a night. What areas should i stay? Can anybody recommend a place?

regards

WB

Try Soi Binthabaht and Soi Selekam. These streets are between the temple on Phetchkasem Road and the Hilton Hotel. Close to the beach, the night market and very close to the bars.

Good luck.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm now in Hua Hin, a bit like Pattaya but smaller and with a townish feel rather than cityish...! I slept in a guesthouse in the middle of the touristy bit, overlooking the sea for 350 Baht, fan & shower. A bit grotty.. Anybody on line able to direct me to some fishing village with a couple of simple bungalow resorts...?

Exactly so Eva. That's why many of us prefer Cha-Am to be honest. But I'm not sure that you'd find anywhere under 500 bht though. Tidy though.

Hi Chutai, I thought of going to Cha-Am but by the resorts seemed just as expensive and not so many to choose from. In Hua Hin I managed to find a place on the sea, called Bird, near the guardian spirit temple for 450 B, it was very nice. My friend stayed in Memory for 200 B per night but I didn't like the owner's temper.. We paid a visit to Takiab which I thought was nicer and they also had rooms for 300 B there. Hua Hin is a friendly place but far too pricey for me and the sea water wasn't clean. I'm going to try Koh Si Chang next..

Koh Si Chang

Located some hundreds kilometre east of Bangkok, Koh Si Chang is the most well known and biggest island in Chonburi Province. The island has been in a tourist map since the early 20th century. Covering an area of 18 square kilometers, it is surrounded by small islets; namely Koh Kham Yai, Koh Kham Noi, Koh Prong, Koh Ran Dokmai, Koh Sampan Yeu, Koh Kang Kao, Koh Yai Tao, and Koh Tai Ta Meun.

Good luck, Ave.

The water is clean in Cha Am, Hua Hin or Prachuap Khiri Khan. It's sandy though because you're are at the top of the Gulf. Didn't cross your mind, did it?

If you want water you can see "through" at low-budget places, you have to go to Koh Samet (in the east), Koh Chang (east-south), Koh Tao (south-west) or even farther south.

Good luck,

In one part of Koh Maak there is only sand but you can actually see how clear and beautiful the water is. You can feel it when the water is clean. I found the water in Hua Hin dirty because it had lots of rubbish and dead fish everywhere, it was very muddy with that a sticky feel to it. But I have seen worse in places like Bangbao, the far south west of Koh Chang.

The beaches around Hua Hin look well kept, the seafood is excellent and the atmosphere is pleasant. I'm not ruling out another visit.

Koh Chang waters are more and more polluted every year all around the main island and that is heart breaking to see because it's one of the few rain forests left around. The local authorities have to organise scuba diving under water clean-up competitions to get rid of tons of garbage that is steadily killing the sea wildlife. To find something worth the money and therefore more natural one should try Koh Maak, Koh Khaam, Koh Kood, Koh Tong Lan and other smaller islets where only scuba divers or little boats go.

'Unfortunately' I was brought up in one of the cleanest and less popular spots of the mediterranean sea, therefore, I'm not easy to please.. BUT I'll try Koh Si Chang for sure! Thanks!
