I plan on moving with my girlfriend back to the USA. We will get married after getting back there. What's the best way for us to go in applying for her US visa? Fiancee visa or what?

From what i understand the quickest is the fiance visa. You cannot apply for this visa in thailand. You have to apply in th usa, and it takes 4 to 6 months. She will have to complete a lot of paperwork by herself. If she cannot read english, you better hire a visa service. I know peole that have done this, but i agree not easy. After everything is complete, you will have to fly to Thailand for the intervew. If you met her in a bar do not tell the embassy or you can forget it. Bar girls are excluded from USA immigration.

That's what I've heard.

So anyone have advice on things to do and not do on fiancee visas?

Has anyone here attempted to get one before?

Yeah, I'm aware of the rules for it.

I'm can't apply for it here, but I don't have to be in the States to apply for it either. I can send it to the district office (Nebraska) without ever having to go there.

And no I didn't meet her in a bar, not my type.  :o  She's a coworker from my old company.

Mr Sam,

Maybe the rules and regs differ between the UK & US immigration, But about 2 years ago i managed to get my then G/F a fiance Visa valid for 6 months at Bangkok, Yes there was a whole lot of paperwork involved but we got the Visa within 1 week of applying !  and we subsequently married in the UK.   ???  But it must be different for the U.S.A, How strange !   ???

Here's what I know of how the US immigration works with Fiancee visas:

Requirements: The two persons must have met in person within a certain number of years (I don't remember if it's 2 or 5).

The US citizen in the relationship must make the initial application to one of six district offices in the States, depending on what state they live in. In my case, I must apply to the office in Nebraska.

After review, the person I have applied for is contacted by his/her local US Embassy and an interview for her is arranged. This can take some time to reach this point, several months as I understand.

Anyway, upon approval, she will be issued a visa. After he/she arrives in the US, they must get married within 3 months (actually 90 days I think) to the person who applied for their visa (me in this case) or they must leave.

After the marriage, they are granted a two year stay, or they can apply for permanent residence. After that initial 3 months, they can also apply for a work permit.

After a certain number of years, they can apply for citizenship.

Did I miss anything, anyone?  ???

I did bring my wife to the USA with a Fiancee Visa.  I did all the initial paperwork in the US and submitted it.  Total time took about 5 months for me to get her here.  The paperwork is very involved and very specific.  They want a lot of information.  After you get her to the US, you have 3 months to marry or she will have to leave.  After you marry, you must give the US government the marriage certificate and submit more paperwork.  From that point, you wait about 1 year to get a temporary Green Card while doing small things in between.  With the temp card, she is able to work legally.  She is now a "conditional resident".  In the 3 month period before your 3 year anniversary, you submit more paperwork to have her conditional status removed and be a full-fledged resident without restrictions.  After being in the US for 3 years and having her permanent Green Card, she is able to apply for citizenship.  Hope this helps

Yeah, that helps a bit. A little more clarity.

I'm just trying to find the right time frame here and basic idea of what kind of things I need to do throughout the course of getting approved.

Thanks for your advice everyone.

ho who know when get marry with usa man in thailand i need go usa visit myhusband..what i should you and what kind of visa i can do?/ please help me..

Where does your husband live and work? If not in the USA he should help you obtain a tourist visa.

But if you are talking about getting married and then what visa you need to go to the USA to live with him it would be an immigrant visa and he would have to apply for that using the procedures from the US Embassy here. This will take some months to complete.

Hey LOP..

This is what she said on one of her post

"hello, who can tell me I got marry with old man age 67 on 2 month ago..and i need to go visit him in usa .. i don't know what i must to do about visa and how to start it can help me please let me know"

I think what she's saying ...She had got married to the 67 yrs OLD american 2 months ago. Somehow he's now in the USA and she wants to follow him there (to find him?) but not sure how to proceed.

A LOST HUSBAND CASE? :o
