We recently moved to our new ban & the moving company ruptured one of the lines & we needed to have them resweat one of the fittings & recharge the unit.

after they got done my girl & I noticed a strange snoring sound & found it to be the refrigerator. Is there a blockage in the system? it is as cold as it was before just snoring!

Probably a good thief deterrent, but does anyone know if this sounds like the job was botched somehow.

Thanks

A quick guess would be the coolant is not correct or at the correct level. It is probably pounding of piston on liquid rather than gas and unit will not last too long. But that is just a guess as have never been in the refrigerator repair business.

I’m not a fridge man either but I’ll add my couple of cents worth, I think you should also vacuum the system before recharging it.

Could the noise come from somewhere else after the move? Loose compressor mounting?

Daffy.

Had the fridge man out to look at it again(he did evacuate the system before he recharged it) he mentioned the compressor most likely had some contaminants in the unit as it is a 2001 unit & should have died at 2006(the day after warranty runs out.)

I know from auto air conditioning it would have the same gurgling effect.Usually when it is evacuated & recharged in an auto it removes all contaminants, I am not sure where it would hang up in a refrigerator. He said if I could live with it , It should probably make it a couple more years.Or for 4000 baht he could put a replacement part & fix the snoring (translated by my Thai girlfriend) At least it is a Whirlpool & is frosty as ever. He did check to see if the compressor was loose.

I told him kop khun cup....I can live with the ole snorer. it's just odd having a 3rd wheel around.

As long as it does not snore louder than my girl I'm alright! :o
