Phuket Ferry To Tonsai Bay & Ko Lanta

Featured Replies

Hi, l want to travel over to Tonsai Bay in April from Phuket and then from Tonsai Bay to Ko lanta and then back to Phuket. I wanted to know 1st of all are the ferries still running as April is the low season and what the costs are likely to be?

If the boats are not running been told you can do it by road but the journey is too long for me really.

Thanks

April is still high season. I assume you mean Ton Sai in Phi Phi but Ton Sai is a very popular name for many many beaches in Thailand. Check out Rachada Pier near Phuket City

I think the Ao Nang Princess will cover you.

Lower part of this page has the timetables.

I have taken that ferry a number of times as i go to Ton Sai Beach (near Railay) every year with my rockclimbing friends.

It stops at Phi Phi and we always spend a night there and continue the journey the next day. The ferry WILL stop at Railay for you to disembark onto a longtail that will take you to Ton Sai (or a different one that will take you to Railay)

It is a nice trip. Ton Sai is getting quite modernized lately though. I prefer the old bamboo huts for 60 baht.

Although i haven't been to Ko Lanta in 15 years now, I know you can get a boat to there from Phi Phi and also from Krabi. I don't know if you can get one from Ao Nang, or Railay to Ko Lanta.

The ferry i use is from the northeast part of Phuket town: Rassada Pier.

We usually go in April or May and have also been there in July (the seas were quite rough in July)

Thanks, I only thought it was low season as the prices dropped from April 7th, I will make sure I head to the right island :o I was told Tonsai is getting a bit busy and built up now but was told that if you stop there its a good point to head off and do some scuba diving which is what I am hoping for.
