It often wonders me if a Thai wedding certificate is accepted as a legal document in overseas countries. I heard different cases of course mostly rumours but I'd like to know what my country Australia classes as my marital status.

If your marriage is registered at the local Amphur then it is a legal marriage in Oz....your marital status would then be "married"

The Australian family law court accepts a Thai (Umphur registered) Marriage as a lawful marriage. They will also grant a divorce against this Thai Marriage.

I believe an Australian family law court divorce of a Thai marriage is not recognized by the Thai authorities.

A marriage registered by the Thai authorities is recognised by Australian authorities,eg DIAC Centrelink etc, as is a Thai divorce.

If one is married in Thailand and divorced in Australia it may be advisable to contact the Thai Embassy for advice.
